About the Position

Our client, a space exploration company, is seeking a Director of Lunar Surface Systems to provide support with power and avionics design. The ideal candidate will have experience with researching parts, component selection, and interface specification, and be able to generate detailed narratives about the design. Key responsibilities include identifying motor drivers, writing narratives about motor driver heritage and fault-tolerance, identifying risks and mitigations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Additionally, the Director of Lunar Surface Systems will create power and travel speed plots and write narratives about payload interfaces. Qualifications

  • Experience in researching parts and component selection for power and avionics design
  • Ability to generate detailed written narratives about the design and its various components
  • Knowledge of motor drivers and avionics enclosures
  • Understanding of risk management and mitigation techniques
  • Familiarity with industry standards, such as the JSC-20793 standard
  • Knowledge of testing and inspection processes for Lithium-Ion batteries
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to create accurate power and travel speed plots
  • Experience with payload interface design is a plus
  • Knowledge of comms systems is a secondary qualification
