Power BI and Data modeling Consultant

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Business Transformation Consultant (BTC) at IBM you’ll work right at the intersection of technology people and process helping our clients transform how they adapt to shifts in the market and more closely align their business strategy and vision. You’ll help clients understand leading technologies and the impact they can have on traditional business processes as well as an opportunity to build a powerful portfolio of interesting and rewarding experiences. Leveraging a growth mindset you’re ready and willing to deliver business value wherever needed. In your role you may be responsible for:

Projecting business values of a solution in client-relevant terms and drive adoption of the KPI impact with key client stakeholders
Developing communications tailored to specific audiences while working in an agile collaborative environment
Using IBM’s Design Thinking to help solve client’s challenges and analyze data to support conclusions and strategies

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
1. Power BI expertise: In-depth knowledge of Power BI including proficiency in creating modifying and managing Power BI reports dashboards and data models.
2. Data modeling: Strong understanding of data modeling principles such as dimensional modeling and star schemas to design efficient and scalable data models within Power BI.
3. Data visualization: Proficiency in creating visually appealing and intuitive dashboards and reports using various visualization techniques and best practices in Power BI.
4. DAX (Data Analysis Expressions): Proficient in writing and optimizing DAX formulas for calculations data aggregations and defining relationships between tables within Power BI.
5. Data integration: Experience in connecting and integrating data from multiple sources (such as databases Excel CSV files APIs) into Power BI using Power Query and other ETL (Extract Transform Load) techniques.
6. SQL: Strong SQL skills to extract and manipulate data from relational databases and other data sources enabling efficient data retrieval and transformation within Power BI.
7. Business acumen: Ability to understand business requirements translate them into data models and visualizations and provide actionable insights to stakeholders through Power BI reports and dashboards.
8. Data analysis: Proficient in analyzing datasets identifying trends patterns and outliers and performing advanced calculations or statistical analysis within Power BI.
9. Incremental refresh concepts: Familiarity with the concept of incremental refresh and its benefits in Power BI. Understanding how to set up and configure incremental refresh policies within Power BI Desktop.
10. Performance optimization: Knowledge of techniques to optimize the performance of incremental refresh such as selecting appropriate partitioning strategies defining incremental load logic and managing refresh schedules.
11. Problem-solving and troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve data-related issues performance bottlenecks or errors within Power BI reports or data models.
Collaboration and communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with business stakeholders data analysts and other team members as well as the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
