Power Congestion Analyst I

What You Can Expect
As a Power Congestion Analyst I, you will report to Director Congestion Trading and provide quantitative and fundamental analytics for US electricity markets to improve grid modeling and congestion portfolio optimization. Every day, you will analyze the congestion portfolio and recommend improvements for better performance and analyze market fundamentals using quantitative and statistical tools to improve the congestion views.
- Develop tools to improve power price forecasting, congestion portfolio optimization, grid modeling, and power plant economics
- Analyze market using quantitative and statistical tools and techniques
- Collaborate with other analysts to maintain the generation queue and hourly volume shapes
- Support scenario studies for and systematic analysis of the outputs
- Develop visualization tools to efficiently analyze scenarios studies and historical market information
- Articulate macro-fundamental (supply, demand, renewables) and micro-fundamental (specific transmission and generation outage impacts, bids, facility limits) drivers
- Recommend and implement process improvements to the enhance fundamental analysis and trading
- Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to review and improve trade controls
- Collaborate with IT personnel to maintain and improve trade tools

What You'll Bring
- A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in which you completed courses in Engineering/Business/Finance or relevant disciplines
- Understanding of powerflow shift factors, line-outage distribution factors and contingency analysis concepts
- Strong analytical skills
- Clear and effective communicator
- Willingness to engage in dialogue and debate with colleagues
- Proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL) and Python
- Knowledge of statistical techniques
Additional Details

Compensation
Salary Range: $62,400- $95,450 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
