Power Markets Analyst
Job Description
Responsibilities:
A Power Markets Analyst at FactSet is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing power markets data sets that drive the decisions of FactSet clients. This includes understanding how the energy transition and shifting political sentiment will affect the operations of existing power plants and development of new power plants. In addition, the analyst will build and maintain a database of global wind, solar, and thermal plants, capturing relevant market intelligence and monitoring proposed project's progress. The analyst will become an expert in the unique regulatory and market environments that each plant operates in and how that affects its operations and profitability.
The knowledge base of our team grows from collaboration and shared experience, so regular, reliable attendance, a proactive nature and willingness to learn from others is a must. You will need to work both independently and as part of a team under time pressure to meet deadlines with rigorous, timely analysis. The flexibility of our team is a key differentiator for BTU Analytics, so effective professional communication and maintaining healthy working relationships with co-workers as individual and team priorities shift is essential. Our firm finds success when our clients are successful, so learning how our data and analysis is used by our clients is critical. The right candidate will be comfortable with customer service in addition to all of the technical skills necessary to develop sound analysis of utility rate filings.
Required Skills:
• Undergraduate Degree
• Quantitative background
• Must be proficient at database and personal computer analytical and reporting tools
• Must have an interest in energy (wind, solar and thermal)
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, working independently and as part of a team
