Power Systems Engineer

Eaton's Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Richmond, VA facility.

Position Overview:

Eaton's Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure Division (CPDI) is currently looking for a Power Systems Engineer to join the team in Richmond, VA. They will design and support Power Distribution Units while providing manufacturing support on the floor. This position is responsible for complete design and release of customer driven orders from start to finish of project.

In this function you will:

• Apply knowledge of design principles and technologies of heavy electrical equipment design with low and medium voltages, including magnetic design, such as transformers, Inductors, and reactors
• Design and develop Power Distribution Units, Remote Power Panels and Custom solution based on customer driven orders
• Create schematics and power wire list for products
• Collaborate with other departments while meeting timelines to deliver reliable product
• Provide testing support for troubleshooting products when on the production floor
• Maintain and release design documentation in a controlled environment (PDM)
• Have responsibility for mentoring and recruiting highly skilled engineering talent.
• Confront and solve performance/operational issues to improve engineering efficiency.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 3 years work experience in electrical and power distribution design OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1 year work experience in electrical and power distribution design
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Experience with new product development efforts preferred
• AutoCAD/SolidWorks (PDM/ Enovia)
• Understanding of Magnetics design and its application
• Understanding of UL, IEC, NFPA 70E and NEC standards

Position Criteria:

• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others
• Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills
• Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus
• Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level executive team
• Will work with production/manufacturing and support build of project while on production floor
• Familiarity with schematics in a Power Distribution product and PCB layout

Travel:

• Travel 10% to attend meetings and technical discussions, observe manufacturing processes,

and evaluate vendors
