This position is providing accurate estimated out-of-pocket expenses for patients seeking and receiving services in a Providence. This includes educating patients on benefit information and assisting patients with self pay balances and balance after insurance amounts. Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of and competency with numerous Federal, State and other regulatory body compliance regulations and third party insurance plans.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring price estimate quotes are accurate to enhance the patient experience
- Providing excellent customer service to patients, providers and members of the Providence St. Joseph community
- Maximization of cash flow by providing and collecting on complex out of pocket expenses prior to service
- Ensuring compliance requirements are met
- Expert knowledge of the EPIC Price Estimates tool
Required Qualifications:
- 4 years overall experience in integrated healthcare system in any aspect of access services, financial counseling, upfront collections, insurance or related position.
- 3 years demonstrated experience in: Working knowledge of Patient Financial Services processes with emphasis on calculating and collecting patient financial liability including, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, and out of pocket maximum.
- Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business outcomes.
- A track record showing good decision-making skills based upon a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment.
- A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare related field. Or equivalent education/experience.
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate upon hire.
- Medical terminology, data entry and computer experience, prior financial counseling, upfront collections and working with public.
- Epic Healthcare Systems experience.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
