About the Team

Join the US Pricing Support team as a part of the larger US Individual Life Pricing team. We are a global team responsible for enabling and monitoring the pricing of the US Individual Life Mortality business.

About the Role

Swiss Re is looking for an actuarial student to work on a global team supporting the US Individual Life Pricing team. The position requires significant collaboration within the organisation with other actuaries, underwriters and support functions, locally and abroad. Role can be tailored to fit experience level for anyone between a recent actuarial graduate up to near-FSA.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the US Individual Life Pricing team through pricing reviews and model development.
  • Prepare recent pricing wins for incorporation into the Valuation model through New Business Induction.
  • Construct and update models for the annual Open Treaty Review process used in portfolio monitoring.
  • Actuarial analysis and pricing of traditional L&H business, build models, and provide analytic support
  • Understand and maintain key pricing tools such as AXIS, Excel, or other company-specific programs.
  • Assist in assumption development, deployment, and other Terms of Trade-related activities
  • Develop business acumen in order to become a source of technical knowledge and advice.
  • Exam-taking students would be part of Swiss Re's Actuarial Development Program

About You

  • 0 to 5 years of actuarial experience.
  • Successfully completed a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Prefer completion of at least 2 actuarial exams with the Society of Actuaries or similar international actuarial organization.
  • Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, good organization skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in using MS Excel and/or a programming language.
  • Good presentation skills, enthusiastic and optimistic. Engaging personality with proven ability to develop effective relationships.
  • Work with teams across various locations. Sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Solid foundation in technical actuarial principles.
  • Able to anticipate problems. Proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Able to present ideas and difficult concepts accordingly.

For Armonk, NY the estimated base salary range for this position is $86,000 to $144,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
