Opportunity Overview
Team Overview:
Edward Jones is seeking a Fund Valuation Specialist for our Proprietary Funds Valuation and Evaluation ("PFVE") team, whose primary goal is to oversee the valuations of the Bridge Builder Trust mutual funds and Edward Jones Money Market Fund. As a member of the PFVE team, you will be interacting with multiple internal asset management teams and external service providers in the industry, as well as stakeholders across Edward Jones
What You Will Do:
- The core focus of the group is to prepare, evaluate, analyze, and summarize portfolio investment valuation results.
- Prepare valuation models reviews, presentations for leaders, and ad-hoc deliverables
- Apply valuation methodologies in line with fund's valuation policy as well as requisite external guidance
- Conduct valuation analysis on a diverse portfolio of illiquid investments across various industries and geographies, utilizing established approaches and relevant theory
- Attend valuation committee meetings and other meetings with senior stakeholders and present to leaders.
- Drive the onboarding process for technology and ensure proper valuation procedures are in place
- Respond to auditor inquiries and coordinate valuation reviews with third party valuation firms
- Assist in the presentation of valuation results to various internal committees, external auditors, and limited partners
- Work closely with firm Management Reporting to provide inputs as well as other portfolio investment information to aid in the completion of business forecasts and other planning deliverables
- Coordinate with third-party valuation firms to obtain independent reviews of investment valuations
- Stay informed about valuation trends in various markets and assess portfolio impact
- Facilitate audits of valuation controls/procedures and results for internal auditors and external auditors
- Recommend and/or and challenge methodologies and assumptions for existing investments utilizing technical knowledge
- Create summary materials and present to valuation committees for review and approval of significant changes/events, valuation and market trends, and key judgements
- Work with the various teams to drive enhancements and improvements to the overall valuations and reporting processes, procedures, use of internal resources, and technology

Position Requirements
What Experience You Need:
- 7+ of related experience in asset management industry focusing on fund accounting oversight.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or related field.
- Securities licenses Series 7 and Series 66 required within 6 months of hire.
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of mutual fund processes - Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States of America ("GAAP"), trading, fund accounting, administration, security valuation, compliance, etc.
- Understanding of SEC rules 2a-5 and 22e-4 and AICPA valuation guidance
- Strong knowledge of securities, financial markets, and valuation techniques (e.g., discounted cash flow, comparable company analysis, spread pricing, etc.)
- Strong and growing analytical and problem-solving capabilities; are able to analyze company financial statements, assess company, industry or market news and its impact on fair value
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) complex ideas, processes, and situations to various audiences including, senior business leaders, investment analysts, portfolio managers, and oversight committees
- Strong organization and time management skills to be able to meet deadlines.
- Detailed oriented with the ability to work in a group or independently, as needed
*Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
What Could Set You Apart:
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the investment industry, specifically mutual funds.
- Understands and applies intermediate knowledge of product/tool/systems, regulatory issues and Edward Jones business model, philosophies and values.
- Proficient at creating spreadsheets, creating and analyzing reports, developing measures and using external resources
- Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of systems/products/services of partners/vendors
- Experience and knowledge of board management and work management software, including Diligent and Smartsheet
- Updated on industry trends, accounting standards and regulatory changes that may impact fund accounting and registered investment company's practices.
- Can work in ambiguous and highly complex situations, create clarity, demonstrate sound judgement, and drive towards effective outcomes
- Works well under pressure and meet critical deadlines in a very time sensitive environment
