Position Specific Description

Principal Financial Analyst, M&A Corporate Finance:

Provide support in the overall M&A evaluation process for Upstream, Midstream and Pipeline assets.

  • Majority of time is spent evaluating either acquisition or green field development projects
  • Prepare financial models to analyze and value potential investments and transactions.
  • Due diligence of acquisition opportunities
  • Support debt financing for assets
  • Conduct market research, competitive intelligence analysis and benchmark performance
  • Create and distribute weekly M&A dashboards to senior management
  • Ability to distill complex analytical issues into simple to understand analysis for management decision making
  • Comprehend, analyze, frame and resolve complex analytical problems; and communicate the key project risks to the senior management
  • Participate in ad hoc / special projects / report development / financial modeling
  • Able to present M&A analysis and deal summaries effectively and support in developing presentations for deal approvals

Qualified candidate should also have the following skills:

  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in developing financial models and analyzing financial statements
  • Exposure to M&A transactions
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
  • Industry expertise (Upstream/Midstream/Pipelines) preferred

Job Overview

This position performs financial due diligence and prepares investment valuations of acquisitions and greenfield projects in the energy industry including assisting in the planning and coordination of these assignments. Employees in this role are expected to assist managers/directors in the planning and coordinating of assignments and work without supervision to identify and analyze the impact of relevant investment, environmental and/or business issues facing NextEra Energy on the company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity and competitive position. The successful candidate applies advanced abilities to comprehend, analyze, frame and resolve complex analytical issues and distill them into simple to understand analysis for management decision making, communicating the key investment benefits and risks to senior management, and providing expertise and support to other NextEra departments requiring financial consulting services or financial training.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Assists in planning and coordinating engagement assignments with Development Group Leaders • Reviews and signs off on engagement work products and presentations • Presents at executive management vetting meetings • Assists in developing and maintaining policies and standards for functional area (QAQC, document retention, model approaches, etc.) • Implements Valuation Group's initiatives, goals and objectives • Performs goal setting, evaluation and mentoring of direct reports • Promotes staff career development and advancement opportunities • Assists in group hiring and training processes • Works with third party bankers and consultants on acquisition related diligence as necessary • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance• Experience: 6+ years
