Principal Engineer - Algorithms
Job Scope
As the Principal Algorithm Engineer you will drive the development and alignment of a wide range of algorithms (perception, radar, general sensing and information fusion, general control algorithm - including motor control optimization, ) as well as sensor technical roadmap (radar, lidar, and other sensors pertinent to Allegion's business) across Allegion SBU's. You will collaborate with technical leadership from the product lines to develop and deliver building blocks for both products and services. The role is expected to lead and direct a small team that will be developed/filled out over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement state-of-the-art perception algorithms for radar, vision, lidar, UWB, and other sensor types, including sensor fusion
- Develop, implement, and suppot general closed loop control algorithms supporting Allegion's key products (including motor control, )
- Develop and implement tracking algorithms capable of supporting multiple sensing types
- Responsible for research, implementation and testing of object tracking, object classification and/or occupancy grid mapping algorithms
- Establish processes and techniques to analyze data from all sensor types to assess the performance of new and existing algorithms/features
- Guide the development and implementation of an algorithm and sensor technical roadmap and requirements
- Support the identification and selection of sensor supplier(s) and engineering development partner(s)
- Ensure a seamless and robust implementation by cooperation with the other teams to deliver solutions on time
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Masters' degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- Proficient in developing and implementing state-of-the-art radar tracking software, nonlinear state estimation, occupancy grids and classification
- 5+ years working on radar-based perception algorithms to support object detection and tracking
- 3+ years leading high-performance engineering research
- Experience productizing a broad array of algorithm development
- Experience productizing radar and other sensor and perception algorithms on embedded platforms
- Experience utilizing sensor data to implement object tracking algorithms
- Understanding of radar waveforms and signal processing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware systems
- Basic knowledge of the C++/Python programming language.
- Experience working at each stage of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDL)
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- PhD. in Computer Eng, Electrical Eng, Computer Science, or related technical field
- Innovative and delivery-oriented person with outstanding analytical and systematic skills
- Experience with multi-modal sensor fusion
- Experience working with agile development teams
