Principal Analyst - Techno Economics
Job Description
We are looking for a Sr Analyst - Techno Economics to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. You will apply a combination of technical depth and breadth, critical thinking, modeling and simulation, and analysis to understand complex, often multi-domain problem areas to provide competitive analysis of competing technologies, decision insight and communicate options and trade-offs in support of design, scale up and integration of the next generation fuel cell and electrolyzer products based on our solid oxide platform.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Leverage deep understanding of fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies and use economic modelling to predict accelerated growth roadmaps for Bloom products
- Responsible for researching, analyzing, and developing innovative techno-economic models and life cycle assessments that support strategic business objectives
- Develop and maintain techno-economic models to evaluate various fuel cell and electrolyzer products and applications to help guide company investments
- Leading and coordinating approaches and methodologies for benefit-cost analyses to assess the technical and economic impacts of an array of fuel cell products for power generation and hydrogen production across a range of scenarios.
- Leverage different modelling frameworks like Linear programing, Monte Carlo simulations, ProSim, Aspen
- Analyze and report on current and future energy markets, technologies, and regulations
- Work closely with external bodies like national laboratories, academia, and customers to bring external inputs to the techno economic models.
- Act as an internal consultant working closely with Engineering, Product Management and Finance to drive positive outcomes with measurable impact on the business
Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years' experience in energy markets and techno economic models, with demonstrable experience in hydrogen or hydrogen-adjacent industries
- Qualified individuals should have obtained a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related areas.
- Knowledge and experience in one or more relevant topical areas including energy systems, green chemistry, thermodynamics, heat transfer, lifecycle assessment, technoeconomic analysis, energy technology commercialization and/or quantitative energy policy analysis.
- Experience developing and applying quantitative tools such as computational models or simulations that leverage a variety of data sources to inform energy or energy policy analyses.
- Team oriented consensus builder who understands how to achieve buy-in from diverse constituencies, building bridges and designing "win-win" solutions across a matrix management organization
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong project management and change management skills
