Job Description
The Principal Applications Developer is a senior technical leader responsible for the design delivery and evolution of subsystems capabilities or cross-team initiatives. Principals are expected to make technical decisions that account for multiple perspectives and to actively guide teams toward sound standard-aligned solutions seeking broader agreement with development teams or management where appropriate. The role focuses on architectural integrity technical strategy and risk management across multiple teams or functional areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of complex subsystems or solution capabilities end to end.
- Translate high-level goals into coherent technical strategies aligned with solution direction and business objectives.
- Select evaluate and recommend technologies tools and frameworks guiding their adoption.
- Evaluate solution approaches considering effort risk quality operability and long-term sustainability.
- Deliver software initiatives of significant scope and complexity independently or with diverse teams.
- Proactively identify manage and resolve cross-system dependencies and architectural risks.
- Provide technical leadership during planning execution and critical problem resolution.
- Mentor developers across the software delivery lifecycle and guide technical decision-making.
- Represent technical viewpoints in reviews involving senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute independently to customer-facing and industry-related activities.
Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering or applications development
- Expert-level knowledge of relevant technologies platforms and architectural patterns.
- Deep understanding of selected system domains with broad awareness of the wider solution landscape.
- Proven ability to influence technical direction across teams.
- Strong communication leadership and decision-making capabilities.
- Recognised expertise beyond immediate team or function.

InterSystems is providing a current good faith estimate of the anticipated base salary range for this position depending on a variety of factors including experience education skills and performance.
Other compensation may include a discretionary annual variable target incentive.
