A Brief Overview

To become part of the team, you will need a strong work ethic, high integrity, and to be intellectually curious, driven, enthusiastic, meticulous and a continual learner. You will lead and be responsible for creating and owning blueprints from ideation through design of new and changing Stanford Medicine applications. You'll work with business, application, and technology owners, as well as researchers and vendors to understand the problems that need to be solved, the requirements that need to be met, and how to architect solutions that are fit for purpose. You'll need to understand architecture principles, techniques and methodologies, and have experience in translating what the business wants or needs into technical solutions. You'll have project objectives and goals that will require collaboration with many others in the Stanford community, e.g., Stanford Children's Health, Stanford University. You'll need to understand Enterprise Architecture functional and non-functional requirements. You may need to conduct market research on vendors, evaluate solutions, develop current and future state architecture, as well as the necessary architecture views required of your audience. You'll need to understand how to conduct trade-off analyses, determine pros/cons of solutions, detail architecture risks, recommend a solution, and then present your solution recommendation to an Architecture Review Board. If standard modeling tools and notations are new to you, then it will be the first of many things that you'll need to pick up. The Solution Architecture team uses ArchiMate and BPMN to model architecture in our Enterprise Architecture tool. And you may use Visio and PowerPoint to deliver presentations based upon audience. Specifically, we're looking for an Architect with experience in implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other business solutions. The individual will be the Principal architecture resource for responsible Workday ERP system implementation. You will play a critical role in bridging the gap between the business and technology by understanding business workflows, and developing data, application, integration, as well as technology architecture views that are in alignment with the organizational goals and objectives.

To be successful, you'll need to work closely with business stakeholders and partners to understand requirements and gather information about current business systems and processes. Based on requirements gathered, you'll architect an end-to-end solution that addresses the needs of both Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children's Health. You must have in-depth knowledge of ERP systems and technologies and be able to provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team. In addition to keeping up to date with the latest Workday ERP technology and trends, you will be responsible for communicating the solution to business stakeholders and ensure they understand its benefits and limitations. You'll need to understand Supply Chain, support and participate in conversations at the executive level, and have the ability to convey emerging trends, recommendations, and business value propositions. You'll also need the ability to lead individual workstreams independently without much oversight. You'll collaborate in project planning and scoping with IT professionals, such as other architects, developers, business analysts, and project managers, to ensure successful project delivery. You must have a strong knowledge of Workday modules and an understanding of enterprise application architecture and integration patterns. Health care experience is strongly preferred.
