Principal Architect, Mobile

Job Description

We’re looking for a Principal Architect, Mobile to join Procore’s Mobile Engineering team. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to drive the next generation of field application platform initiatives in a global SaaS infrastructure. You’ll work with our dedicated and talented team spanning Engineering, Product Management, UX and Architects to create and scale the next generation Procore experience on Mobile devices. You’ll bring your deep experience in Web, Mobile, and IoT platforms to evolve our current field application to a platform-oriented approach, as well as explore new device modalities to capture and apply field data to improve the course of construction.

As a Principal Architect, you will be primarily responsible for establishing the strategic technical direction, creating reference patterns, and will be additionally responsible for actively driving the effective execution of that strategy for one of Procore’s core product areas. This position reports to the Sr Director of Mobile Engineering with the opportunity to be located in the Austin, TX office. We’re looking for someone to join our team immediately.

What you’ll do:

• Hands-on development and coding of architecture and systems that meet the test of time for a variety of wireless devices

• Integrate vision between Web and Field devices while considering new data opportunities at construction job sites for different personas 

• Build awareness, increase knowledge and drive adoption of modern technologies, industry innovations, trends and architecture patterns, sharing customer and engineering benefits to gain buy-in

• Collaborate with VPs across engineering, product management, UX and business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and align technology solutions to business goals

• Achieve a wide sphere of influence with supporters, both internally and externally, helping to elevate the Engineering community and establish as a go-to resource on field technologies from hands on engineers to executives

• Provide leadership in developing reference patterns and platform-based roadmaps for the Mobile domains, with hands-on execution to guide their implementation plans

• Lead efforts to develop predictive capabilities for technology disruption by leveraging broad data sources

• Establishing and maintaining our overall technology strategy which supports and enables our multi-year corporate and product strategies, and which embodies our P&T and Engineering Principles

What we’re looking for:

• Masters Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or comparable work experience

• 15+ years experience in software engineering, Test Driven Development and Design principles for web and hybrid enterprise mobile applications for several mobile platforms (iOS/Android/Windows), Distributed Architectures

• Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization and promote a culture of engineering excellence and being well-managed, using opportunities to reuse and innersource solutions where possible

• Extensive hands-on experience in designing, architecting, and implementing Web, Native iOS and Native Android applications, with a deep understanding of their respective ecosystems. Additional experience in non-traditional IoT platforms desirable

• Operated as a trusted advisor for a specific technology, platform or capability domain, helping to shape use cases and implementation in an integrated manner

• Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change within the organization, promoting innovation and continuous improvement

• Being comfortable with the overall responsibility and accountability to create and maintain a technical strategy and execution plan

• Driven operational transformation through automation and continuous process improvements

• Proven track record of distilling ambiguity to clarity and direction

Additional Information

Base Pay Range $244,520-$336,215. Eligible for Bonus Incentive Compensation. Eligible for Equity Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
