Principal Associate Scientist I

How you’ll make an impact:

Run and manage Illumina sequencers in a growing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) lab. Manage sequencer workflows and develop new sequencing protocols working in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment to build out our NGS sequencing pipeline. Serve as subject matter expert on NGS activities, applying knowledge of sequencing to multiple cross-functional NGS projects in a research and clinical setting. Troubleshoot issues with sequencers and NGS workflows as they arise. Provide leadership within the group by training, managing, and developing junior members of the team.

Who you are and what you’ve accomplished:

Requirements: Requires a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a directly related field plus three (3) years of experience developing, managing, and implementing NGS workflows and instruments. Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

Three (3) years in each of the following:
- Illumina sequencing technologies and troubleshooting, including running and maintaining Illumina NGS instruments
- Writing protocols and maintaining a detailed laboratory notebook
- Working independently and in a cross-functional team environment, including meeting deadlines, and prioritizing and balancing work from multiple individuals
- Working in a sequencing core facility or other fast-paced, high-volume lab
- Working with a broad array of NGS library prep kits

One (1) year in the following:
- Managing a direct report
- Lab automation tools including Agilent and Tecan

Will accept a Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of described experience.
