Division Summary:

Teragonia’s Data Science and Operations Research (DS&OR) Consulting division centers around the financial sponsor industry, given the important role the industry plays in fostering innovation and improving operating efficiency in the economy, while providing access to substantial private capital to startups and middle market companies. We specialize in leveraging innovative statistical, optimization, and AI/ML models to solve business problems and generate transformative business value.

Job Summary:

We are particularly interested in candidates who operate with integrity, intellectual humility, and a long-term career commitment. The ideal candidate for this role will have a solid foundation and experience in data analytics in a global consulting firm or the Big 4 accounting firms. You should have the ability to extract, summarize and articulate meaningful business insights to our financial sponsor clients. You will be a significant contributor to our service delivery, innovation, business development, practice development, and thought leadership. You will have specialized knowledge of data analytics applications in a chosen industry or domain. You will possess excellent leadership and project management skills, and be eager to develop as a key executive in the DS&OR Consulting division as your career with us progresses to Director and Managing Director levels. We will provide appropriate mentorship and company selected resources for your leadership skills development.

Service delivery:

You will work with client stakeholders at various levels, from Analyst to C-suite, to help develop solutions that fulfill their business needs. You will be responsible for researching and applying cutting-edge data analytics techniques to solve business problems. You will have a lead role in managing the engagement, staffing, timelines, and service quality in delivering (i) enterprise-wide business intelligence applications and (ii) domain-specific data science and generative AI applications to improve pricing, customer segmentation, sales force effectiveness, customer life-time-value, attrition management, workforce scheduling, cost optimization, etc.

You will continuously innovate, keep abreast of the latest industry trends, data science techniques, and tools, and be able to apply to clients’ business needs appropriately. You will mentor and lead teams of Business Analytics professionals, and work in integrated teams that include software engineers, data scientists, and operations researchers in achieving business objectives. You will be leading client engagements and responsible for delivery quality within agreed timelines, while ensuring team morale stays high. You will work collaboratively with your peers in software engineering and data science at Teragonia to provide high-quality insights and solutions meeting client needs.

Business development:

You will lead Teragonia’s business development efforts at the strategic financial sponsor accounts assigned to you by the executive leadership. As the account lead, you will develop an intimate knowledge of the client’s investment strategy and portfolio, and present how data analytics, data science, and generative AI can be leveraged to significantly improve their revenue growth and profitability. You will be actively involved in go to market efforts including pitching to new clients, and traveling on-site as needed. You will establish a strong working relationship with the client executives, both within the client’s investment teams and operating partner group, as well as the portfolio company C-suites. You will be the face of Teragonia for the client, coordinating marketing activities and service delivery of our real-time business intelligence applications and other ad-hoc data analytics consulting engagements.

Training:

As a subject matter expert, you will have deep knowledge of the software tools used for service delivery. You will develop specialized knowledge of data science and AI applications in a chosen industry that aligns with Teragonia’s strategic goals. You will leverage your domain expertise, industry focus, and knowledge of the service delivery tools, to develop training curricula for augmenting the data analytics knowledge and skills, and lead training and development initiatives for the various teams at Teragonia’s on-shore and off-shore locations.

Practice development and thought leadership:

You will assist the executive leadership with strategic marketing initiatives including the preparation of marketing materials including pitch decks, case studies, and online marketing campaigns. You will actively participate in thought leadership, including publishing white papers and articles in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and relevant domain-specific publications. You will also participate in relevant industry conferences that Teragonia identifies, and help demonstrate Teragonia’s data science and AI capabilities in these venues.

Innovation:

Constant, purpose-led innovation is central to Teragonia’s success. You will continuously research and ideate new enterprise applications based on the latest trends in data science and technology as well as your consulting experience. You will be working closely with Teragonia’s software engineering group, to develop and test various enterprise applications leveraging data science and AI.

Travel requirements:

Candidates should expect 10% to 20% travel on average (two to five business days per month) for marketing, team building, or client service which may vary occasionally based on business needs.

DS & OR Flexible work policy:

We empower you to choose the work environment that best balances your personal needs with the business needs. We recognize that a remote location may allow you to better focus and balance your personal needs. We also believe brainstorming, planning, and team-building exercises are most effective in person and would expect you to be in the office, except when specific remote working arrangements are agreed upon due to personal situations.

For candidates living in the Chicago metropolitan area or New York City or within commutable distance, we expect your presence in the office based on business or team needs or team-building activities that are most productive in person. We do not impose specific days for in-office attendance.

We will consider specific remote working arrangements for candidates living outside the Chicago metropolitan area, New York City, or the adjacent suburbs to both cities. We ask that you travel to our headquarters for important events, such as critical brainstorming and planning sessions, training, or team-building events. Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Masters’ degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • CPA (license need not be current).
  • 8+ years of proven experience in a data analytics practice of a Big 4 firm or other similar global consulting firms. Experience in performing financial due diligence will be considered towards the total experience requirement.
  • Proficiency ETL software such as Dataiku, Alteryx, Databricks etc.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, TIBCO Spotfire etc.
  • Experience in leading engagement-driven teams of data scientists across levels.
  • Experience in establishing and fostering strong working relationships with clients, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with a track record of delivering high-quality results working collaboratively with teams of different skill sets and backgrounds.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams including data engineers, data analysts, software engineers, and business analysts.
  • Experience working with Private Equity firms, other financial sponsors and middle market companies.
  • CFA.
  • Intermediate to advanced programming knowledge in SQL and/or Python.
