Principal Business Strategist - Platforms & Technology

The Strategic Advisory group helps empower Rioters' decision-making to be more data-informed. As a Principal Business Strategist, you’ll join the Strategic Advisory group - a group of researchers, analysts, data scientists, and strategists responsible for solving problems and executing analyses that enable Rioters to make difficult decisions with confidence. You’ll be part of an interdisciplinary team and work closely with Rioters from other disciplines (designers, artists, producers, etc.) to conduct studies and analyses that’ll inform the features, systems, and experiences of our products. Your background in data analysis and strategic decision making will ensure that you’re an effective advocate for players and can provide strategic guidance about their wants, needs, and behaviors.

• Independently tackle some of Riot’s most pressing strategic technology questions, such as creating or refining our long-term strategic plans or helping teams understand which capabilities they need to develop
• Identify and prioritize product choices that create competitive advantages and adapt to changing market dynamics, and ensure product strategy is connected with broader PlatTech, customer, and Riot strategy
• Improve PlatTech’s processes and systems to enable better, faster decision-making and greater insight into the organization
• Mentor and coach to lift the expertise of advisory teams
• Create and maintain systems and processes that ensure all advisory members of PlatTech are working on the right things, and doing so effectively
• Perform ad-hoc analyses on behalf of the CTO and PlatTech leadership

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics or a related discipline plus 8 years of relevant experience (an advanced degree can account for up to 2 years of experience) 
• Familiarity with several of the following crafts and 5+ years experience in as least one: 
• Business Strategy - You possess strong analytical skills with the ability to address strategic and operational challenges and evaluate options from a variety of lenses
• Analytics or Research - You have a working knowledge of best practices in gathering, analyzing, and leveraging data and research to inform strategic direction
• Finance - You have broad and deep experience in strategic financial modeling, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), as well as a solid understanding of Accounting, Tax and Treasury considerations
• Experience owning strategy development for a product or business in a leadership capacity and operationalizing that strategy via ownership or advisory
• Experience leading cross-functional teams towards a shared vision / objective
• Excellent stakeholder management including working with, presenting to, managing and influencing executive stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to engage in healthy constructive debate
• Precise attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving capability
• Capable of building strong collaborative relationships with peers across Riot

• Relevant industry experience in tech, specifically with servers, connectivity, cloud computing, big data and others
• Familiarity with corporate finance and business processes
• Appetite for continuous learning
• Able to problem solve across multiple areas, often at the same time
• Technical experience or certifications, such as AWS Cloud Practitioner
