The Role

Are you a driven and innovative technologist eager to make a lasting impact? At Fidelity Investments, the Enterprise Architecture team is seeking a principal software engineer to join our new Architecture review gate team. In this role, you will be instrumental in catching cloud anti patterns and deviations from architectural standards before applications go into production. Your work will be showcased company-wide, accessible to architects, engineers and senior management, amplifying your influence across the organization.

The Expertise We're Looking For

• BS or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• 5+ years of technology experience in the development and implementation of new technologies in financial and high-tech environments.
• Comprehensive experience in overall end to end Software Solution Engineering in a fast-paced Scrum environment.
• Ability to help clarify user requirements and define accurate use cases.
• Hands-on development skills with potential for technology leadership.
• Ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
• Keep current with the latest technology and industry trends; drive innovation and adopt technologies that support and advance business strategy.

The Skills You Bring

• Rapid prototyping of new concepts, technologies, and development methods.
• Experience and understanding of enterprise integration patterns.
• Knowledge of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices and principles.
• Experience with developing and maintaining high-quality code in Python.
• Validated experience with API Design & Development and Microservices Architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and building RESTful services and proficiency in using Jenkins and Git.
• Experience implementing cloud-based solutions in AWS using services such as (SNS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, etc.)
• Experience in container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes/Docker.
• Proficient in databases and NoSQL. Exposure to Snowflake is a plus.
• Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code languages such as Terraform, CloudFormation and ARM.
• Experience with Open Policy Agent (OPA) and Rego a plus.
• Experience with blue / green and active / active application deployment configurations.
• Hands-on experience developing software in a Principal Developer capacity on an Agile/Scrum team.
• Out of the box problem solving and troubleshooting skills in Quality Engineering, Automation and willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies.
• Work closely with the Product, Engineering and Production Support team members to help increase speed of delivery, improve quality of code, stability of production and optimize processes.
• Production support experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
