Principal Data Consultant

Location: This role is open in Melbourne or Sydney

About The Role

Our clients are varied, and we are on the lookout for an experienced data expert with a commercial data engineering background, who can confidently navigate a client on what they can do with their data. You will be drawing from past experiences in a consulting firm, where you have successfully been providing guidance and direction on data strategy, data architecture and data governance. You will be at the heart of our data ecosystem, ready to nurture & grow business opportunities, lead clients through their data discovery as well as help mature our internal team capability.

This role is suited for a true consultant who;

• Enjoys understanding problems, crafting solutions, and leaving our clients in a better place
• Enjoys communicating, can manage different levels of stakeholders, and can weave together a powerful vision and story, bringing clients on the journey
• Has experience leading pre-sales efforts, discovery sessions, client presentations and can support our sales teams with crafting a proposal fit for a client's needs
• Is a data engineering practitioner that still enjoys being on the tools, and is across current languages, platforms and frameworks
• Is passionate about data
• Is able to lead the delivery of a solution while jumping in to develop code and support the technical team
• Is comfortable working in ambiguity
• Is a master at spinning multiple plates 

Technical Skills

• Your background in data engineering means you are well versed across the data landscape, including data infrastructure & architecture, data pipelines, data models, data visualisation, data analytics, data governance & compliance
• Awareness of big data frameworks e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Flink
• Multi-cloud platform experience in Google, AWS, Microsoft
• Bonus points for experience in Machine Learning and/or Data Science
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools
