Position Specific Description
The Gas Infrastructure Data Engineer serves as the Gas Infrastructure team's analytics lead and a key business process liaison for designing and implementing larger or cross-functional solutions and toolsets. This position will partner with the Data Architects/Owners and Stakeholders at all levels of the organization to develop data driven solutions that provide analytics, visualizations and business insights to drive results and proactively identify and resolve problems.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
5+ years designing, developing and maintaining data warehouses and supporting reporting tools, preferably with Microsoft Power BI
Oil & gas industry experience preferred
Excellent knowledge of standard concepts, best practices, and procedures within a data warehousing, real-time data feeds, and production management/accounting systems
Strong technical expertise with MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS is required
Understanding of data flows between IT systems supporting various business processes and proficiency of BI reporting and visualization tools
Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM and SDLC environment
Able to develop rapport and positive relationships to work as a team member and willing to work independently when required
Strong attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
Self-motivated, self-directed and capable of setting priorities and meeting deadlines
Excellent cloud development experience, ETL experience in native cloud services and software products
Preferred Languages: Python, PowerShell, SQL/noSQL, .NET, C/C#
Primary functions include: Define and adhere to data standards, implement quality control, curation and conditioning of data, develop data pipelines for integrations between core systems
Familiarity with O&G data standards and best practices
Core cloud services (AWS) to be used include: Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda
Experience utilizing APIs following industry best practices
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify opportunities to enhance our processes or technology to improve results and translate business needs to technical specifications
Perform triage, analysis, and corrections or recommendations for reported data issues or analytics requests of advanced complexity, prioritizing to ensure timely results delivery
Design and build ETL packages using MS SQL stored procedures and Integration Services (SSIS) or other ETL products for low/no code development
Design, develop and support Power BI, reports, and dashboards
Support and enhance tabular model cubes (SSAS)
Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
To be able to optimize database performance of queries and ETL processes
Troubleshoot escalated Data issues including ETL, SQL DB, SSAS, and Power BI
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned to support and improve the overall team operations

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, debugs, implements, maintains, integrates, customizes, and enhances existing or new systems
• Applies appropriate Agile or development methodologies, system development lifecycles, tools, and technology to manage development activities
• Automates the handoff of code releases from development to operations (DevOps)
• Participates in the change management and service ticket management processes including receiving, resolution monitoring, and ensuring customer satisfaction
• Leads projects when needed and builds strong working understanding of the solution being delivered
• Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of more complex problems
• Designs, develops, and tests experimental application work to test new ideas with bounded cost and time frames
• Ensures that applications processes are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, security, compliance, environmental, and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation
• Acts as liaison with regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors on matters relating to computer systems as required
• Defines metrics and monitors Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for systems being developed
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
