Principal Data Scientist
Job Description
The Principal Data Scientist is a key leadership role providing technical contributions and strategic direction. Specifically, they are expected to operate as a senior technical contributor and a recognized expert in applying data scientific methods to develop descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive models. The Principal will provide innovative yet pragmatic solutions using data analytics to drive actionable insight to business problems. Additionally, they will partner with managers to lead, guide, mentor, and develop the skills of the team. In order to provide both technical and strategic direction, the Principal will monitor industry trends and advocate for the adoption of appropriate technologies when aligned with the broader CDPHP initiatives. The Principal Data Scientist will work closely with the rest of the Analytics team, IT, and internal business partners to identify, evaluate, design, and implement analytic solutions to address short-term and long-term stakeholder goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required. Master or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or a similar computational/quantitative field preferred.
- Minimum (10) ten years of relevant experience required.
- Experience working with Amazon's AWS services like EMR, Redshift, EC2, Sagemaker, or similar services by Azure or Google is required.
- Experience in using machine learning and predictive modeling techniques is required.
- Experience with Python and/or R is required. Experience with SAS or similar modeling tool is preferred.
- Experience working with Tableau or similar reporting/data visualization tool is preferred.
- Experience synthesizing and analyzing large data and making program recommendations based on that data is required, experience with healthcare data preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of health care claims data is preferred.
- Experience working within a healthcare organization preferred.
- Strong skills in MS Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, or mentor staff.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze complex business problems and apply cost effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
- Flexibility to adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment.
Annual salary range: $130,000 - $160,000
CDPHP salary ranges are designed to be competitive with room for professional and financial growth. Individual compensation is based on several factors unique to each candidate, such as work experience, qualifications, and skills. In addition to cash compensation, CDPHP employees may be eligible for an incentive payment, a discretionary cash reward based on employee and company performance. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
