Position Description:

Builds, delivers, configures, and maintains Oracle databases in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure using industry standard deployment tools. Provides technical leadership for Oracle Databases and enterprise technologies. Supports Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) (Aurora PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Yugabyte, and Cockroach DB) and Cloud native databases (AWS RDS and Azure). Replicates data from databases using Golden Gate replication on Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) Exadata. Improves and maintains database performance within platforms -- Cassandra and PostgreSQL. Configures monitoring tools (Datadog and OEM) and proactive detection.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administers and maintains database vendors and enables database migration to Cloud.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains databases in on-premise and in Cloud.
  • Standardizes and implements Cloud user management, security, capacity, monitoring, and configuring application tools.
  • Participates in design reviews and unit testing.
  • Coordinates with systems analysts to define requirements.
  • Builds support among key partners across business units for proposed strategies.
  • Administers, tests, and implements computer databases.
  • Coordinates changes to computer databases.
  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves database performance issues, database capacity, and database scalability.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements security measures to safeguard computer databases.
  • Modifies existing databases and database management systems or collaborate to make changes with programmers and analysts.
  • Develops methods for integrating products to work properly together -- customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration within the financial services industry.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration within the financial services industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing, implementing, supporting, monitoring, training on, and troubleshooting Advanced Oracle Technologies -- Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC),Grid Infrastructure, high availability, and disaster recovery -- on highly complex and critical systems, including Exadata, Zettabyte File System Appliance (ZFS), Amazon Web Services
  • (AWS), and Azure Cloud platforms.
  • DE performing migration and cloning on CommVault using RMAN (traditional/snap) backup, restore, and recovery; and replicating data using EMC's Continuous Data Protection (CDP),Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF), Golden Gate, and Dataguard Broker (DGB) on multi-node (Linux and AIX platforms) and multi-site Oracle databases.
  • DE performing database virtualization using Delphix; performing database SQL tuning; monitoring/troubleshooting real-time mission critical database applications using Oracle Enterprise Manager/OMS; and implementing database security techniques using Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Database Wallet.
  • DE in Database Machine Administration (DBMA) -- providing operating and storage system support by creating Virtual Machines (VMs) using OVM/KVM, and upgrading/patching Oracle servers and databases manually; creating Information Technology (IT) controls documentation and standards for product build, training, and validation processes; and defining monitoring configurations for databases, storage, and server administration using OEM.
