Principal Database Administrator

What you’ll do:

• Build and maintain database structures and procedures in MySQL and DB2.
• Consult with development to build a highly scalable and efficient database structure emphasizing performance.
• Work with the security team to implement security best practices
• Strive for zero downtime when deploying solutions/services
• Help drive architectural design decisions and provide input to other teams
• Develop and own processes/procedures for scaling, capacity planning, configuration management, monitoring, etc.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with other team members
• Ability to communicate effectively, train peers, and interact professionally with other Engineering / Support team
• Build automation tooling and build reliable highly available solutions

Who you are:

• 10+ years of database technology experience and consummate practitioner with the following technologies:
• Experience with MySQL and/or DB2 as well as other relational database technology.
• Experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban.
• Experience with rapid development and deployment processes.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly 
• Train others on technical and procedural topics / conduct knowledge sharing sessions
• Experience with system programming languages, such as Bash and Python
• Understanding of database best practices
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate effectively, train peers, and interact professionally with other Engineering / Support teams
