Position Title: Principal DevOps Engineer, Team Lead
Reporting To: Vice President, Engineering
Location: Chapel Hill, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Boston, MA (Newton Office); New York, NY
Compensation Information: $180,000-200,000 depending on qualifications.
Well is looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer, Team Lead who will be responsible for the ongoing operation of our platform and deployment infrastructure including CI/CD Pipelines, Deployments, and Monitoring/Alerting. The ideal candidate has experience managing technical teams, is technically strong, and can communicate technical ideas appropriately to different audiences. As a Principal DevOps Engineer, Team Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring a high level of developer productivity while enforcing SDLC protocols, and providing or delegating technical leadership on Platform Development Projects.
In addition, the ideal candidate should have experience in some of the following areas: industry experience in high-security domains such as healthcare, banking, government, or military; AWS solution architect and/or AWS networks certification; experience with AWS landing zone (ideally Terraform edition); experience managing CI/CD, Git, approvals, and gated deployments; experience with managing single tenant architectures in AWS with complex multi-account setups; MLOps experience; GCP/BigQuery/Data Lake experience; cloudwatch/datadog/log-based monitoring experience; platform engineering for mobile applications; background as SRE or managing SREs.
Key Responsibilities:
- As our Principal DevOps Engineer, Team Lead, you will be managing a team of DevOps professionals, and prioritizing high-level work (with BA/PM support)
- You will also be representing DevOps in organizational processes discussions, such as change management and approval workflows
- Ensure a high level of developer productivity while enforcing SDLC protocols
- Provide or delegate technical leadership on Platform Development Projects
- Architect and manage our deployment infrastructure, including CI/CD Pipelines, Deployments, and Monitoring/Alerting
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years' team management experience
- 5+ years' experience architecting complex applications
- Experience with cloud native applications on AWS (Lambda/Dynamo/etc)
- Experience building private networks in AWS
- Working knowledge of Terraform
- Successfully designed and scaled a repeatable architecture pattern in AWS
- Programming experience (ideally JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Haskell)
