About The Position
- Project management using leadership skills of SDLC/Waterfall methodology to direct staff and resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met.
- Responsible for planning and managing resources to execute projects or project components from inception through implementation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defines and manages scope and schedule of Ameren's largest and most complex projects, mentoring others on project management methodology, ensuring mega-projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Develops plan and resources (internal/external) for highest risk/impact and most complex projects (mega projects); manages junior resources on projects.
- Sets strategy for prioritization of projects and coaches others on how projects will impact multiple disciplines or groups.
- Coaches others on servant leadership and how to set projects up for success.
- Sets vendor management strategy for the project management organization.
- Sets PMO demand planning strategy with Demand Planning group; helps set broader organizational demand planning strategy.
- Manages project budget of most complex mega projects, reviews and approves invoices for complex projects.
- Mentors senior Project Managers to develop project cash flows, revises project budget and forecasts as needed.
- Manages and ensures quality of highest risk/impact projects using Waterfall project management methods; interprets and anticipates scope creep.
- Coaches others on risk analysis and preparation of risk mitigation plans.
- Defines PMO processes, methodology, tools and automation.
- Proactively removes barriers and ensures full team engagement.
- Helps set Ameren's change control process; can forecast changes based on Ameren's project portfolio.
- Sets stakeholder engagement strategy and tools; communicates PMO business value realization to digital and business leadership.
- Facilitates recurring status meetings with Digital and business senior leadership.
- Sets change management methodology for the PMO; partners with other areas of the business (e.g., HR) to determine best-in class tools.
- Implements project change approach, strategy and plan on Ameren's most complex projects.
- Looks ahead at new technologies and capabilities that would enhance the ability of co-workers to deliver projects successfully and develops training plans to support those new concepts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in project management, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting or project accounting including cost management systems to support project budget, forecast, and spend required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is required.
- 5+ years of experience at large organizations or Fortune 500 companies preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Able to provide strategic leadership on Project Management tools and methodologies including:
- Ability to promote innovative thinking and self-improvement within the team;
- Confident and skilled at navigating the team through roadblocks to allow sprints to be completed on time;
- MS Project, Primavera, etc., project management tools;
- Change management strategies and principles;
- Understanding of project planning principles such as timing, cost and the implications of project cost overruns;
- Ability to develop strategies for optimal resource utilization;
- Demonstrate strategic thinking in vendor management skills.
