Aerospace is seeking a motivated and high-energy Principal Director (PD) to lead the Electronics Engineering Subdivision (EES). EES is part of the Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) which provides technical leadership in the areas of air and space-born electronics, sensors, and sensor data exploitation. EES is a highly responsive technical subdivision comprised of 4 departments, over 70 staff, two modeling and simulation centers, and four laboratories. The PD develops and executes agile strategies, in concert with other ETG, program office, and corporate stakeholders, that position the organization as a leader in electronics. The PD partners with contractor management, customer management, and corporate executive management, and advises senior government program management in all areas of responsibility to ensure project success. The PD is accountable for overall cost-effective operations, organization planning, staffing, staff development, and effective productive work environments.
This is a full-time, Hybrid with majority of time on-site El Segundo, CA position.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading a multidiscipline staff of engineers and technicians across a portfolio that includes:
    • Electrical Systems Engineering
    • Digital and Integrated Electronics
    • Power and Analog Electronics
    • Electromagnetic Environmental Effects
    • Radiation Survivability
    • Microelectronics/ FPGAs/ ASICs
    • Parts, Materials, and Process
  • Developing and implementing strategies and goals that are aligned with corporate and customer objectives
  • Identifying and building future capabilities (staff, expertise, laboratories, tools...)
  • Engaging across Aerospace's program office and government stakeholders to identify opportunities to provide expertise on hard enterprise-level issues
  • Building teams and facilitating organizational collaboration to address current customer needs and develop the needed future capabilities
  • Ensuring delivery of timely high-quality products
  • Managing business activities (overhead, capital, internal investments, deliveries...)
  • Identifying and executing plans for efficient and effective operations
  • Developing and executing staff and succession plans to maintain a premier diverse workforce
  • Developing people-related strategies and managing performance, compensation, development, and career growth
  • Ensuring safe inclusive work environments

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Technical engineering or science degree with direct experience in technical leadership
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible professional experience applicable to the position
  • Ability to execute strategies and provide effective motivational leadership in a changing environment
  • Ability to lead and work outside your personal expertise to cultivate and execute collaborative cross-organizational strategies
  • Strong leadership, people management, collaboration interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with the applicable Aerospace's customer portfolios
  • Active SCI clearance or ability to obtain Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). US Citizenship required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging customer portfolios
  • Direct leadership experience in customer facing program office, commercial business unit, and/or product development organization
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of contractors, customers, and corporate staff
  • Substantial experience in a leadership role developing and implementing people and organizational strategies for a department or larger team
  • 15 or more years of progressively responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Subject matter expertise in the technical area(s) encompassed by the subdivision

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
