Position Summary
Wintrust is searching for a Desktop Architect in our Rosemont office. The Desktop Architect will serve as the SME for the design, implementation, technical support, and sustainability of the end-user computing platforms for desktops, laptops, and VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) solutions. This individual will play a leading part in workplace transformation and deployment projects and will work with IT leadership to define and implement the client computing vision and strategy through collaboration with technical and business partners across the enterprise. The ideal candidate must have a deep level of knowledge and experience surrounding the Windows client OS and its supporting infrastructure. This includes, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Citrix, Active Directory, M365 Apps for Business, VDI and other endpoint management systems.
What You'll Do
  • Design, build, document, and support workstation infrastructure systems
  • Lead Team in Strategic Technology Planning
  • Provide proactive technical research and determine appropriate use for emerging and established technologies based on current business needs
  • Create, manage, and support automation for improving task efficiency as well as auditing and governance controls
  • Work collaboratively with the Enterprise Architect, Server Build, Server Run, Networking and Infrastructure Security teams to promote environment stability and resiliency
  • Produce and maintain desktop hardware and software roadmaps
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time.
  • Develop and publish technical documentation to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer for desktop support
  • Educate various customers/groups on the approaches and implementations of new technologies and initiatives
  • Conduct in-depth troubleshooting of Windows 10, Microsoft Office and the infrastructure associated with workstation management, including GPOs
  • Manage Windows clients and the supporting infrastructure by using MECM, Active Directory Group Policy, MBAM and other systems or tools.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for MECM, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop configuration
  • Support the ongoing integration of a small Apple products user base (JAMF managed)
  • Mentor End User Support Engineers, Desktop Support Technicians and Service Desk Support Analysts - provide escalation support for complex desktop hardware software and configuration issues.

Qualifications
Experience and Skills:
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Expert Technical knowledge in the following areas:
    • Active Directory Group Policy configuration and a functional understanding of Active Directory services
    • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager architecture concepts and Software Distribution
    • Patch management, Windows Servicing, WSUS and SCUP
    • Microsoft 365 Apps for Business / Office 2016 add-in configuration, deployment and troubleshooting
    • Advanced / Performance troubleshooting
    • Windows 10 Internals and WMI working knowledge
    • Remote Access / VPN client diagnostics, configuration and troubleshooting
    • Network and routing fundamentals including knowledge of DHCP and DNS
    • PowerShell scripting and automation
    • SQL and scripting knowledge is a plus

  • Personal Skills:
    • Professional, self-directed, and motivated working under limited supervision and guidance
    • Capable of driving strategic initiatives and improving processes and efficiencies
    • Ability to understand the role of technology within the framework of business objectives
    • Able to lead and oversee multiple projects and manage dynamic priorities and their deadlines
    • Proficient at communicating information, ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical partners.
    • Diligent in creating thorough, complete and easily understood documentation of processes, configurations and architecture
    • Experience working in the Finance industry is a plus
    • College Degree preferred, but not required
