Job Details:

The successful candidate will serve as the technical lead for assigned projects or programs and be responsible for technical execution and performance. Based on customer requirements and internal IRAD goals, the Project Engineer works to establish and maintain the technical baseline, to include system requirements, system architecture, and allocated baseline requirements. The successful Project Engineer will collaborate with the PM and other functional disciplines to define or refine the integrated master schedule, and outline the technical tasks, milestones, and required resources to successfully execute the program.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with PM to create and manage program schedule and WBS
    • Identify milestones and deliverables (technical reviews, CDRLs, etc)
    • Outline technical tasks required to accomplish milestones and deliverables
    • Coordinate with functional leads to refine tasks and identify resources required to accomplish tasks (resource loaded schedule with appropriate skillsets and SMEs identified)
  • Manages technical execution of program
    • Clearly defines and relays the program's goals and objectives to technical staff and management
    • Coordinates and leads the activities of assigned technical staff
    • Works with PM to ensure technical work is within contract scope
  • Oversees activities to establish and maintain technical baseline
    • Works with internal stakeholders to define concepts and document requirements
    • Leads analysis efforts to refine concepts and document technical decisions
    • Maintains technical baseline by enforcing adherence to internal and customer CCBs
    • Acts as technical lead for program at CCB for proposed technical changes
    • Reviews proposed system updates and leads planning and execution of ECP
    • Acts as technical liaison between engineering and customer to define technical insertion opportunities and ensure development efforts are supporting customer needs
    • Ensures design and analysis activities are performed against approved baseline
  • Oversees gate and design reviews for assigned program(s)
    • Coordinates with stakeholders
    • Ensures quality of material and maturity of system meets expectations
    • Coordinates closure of actions items and closeout of gate review(s)
  • Establishes program controls
    • Maintains metrics to track performance of program
    • Maintains program's risk(s) metrics and performs technical risk management activities
    • Provides status reports and briefings to executive management and customer(s)
  • Responsible for quality of product and verification against approved baseline requirements
  • Support engineering activities for proposal efforts
  • Monitor, mentor, and train less experienced systems engineers

  • Experience working with SATCOM or RF equipment
  • Experience creating and maintain Integrated Master Schedule(s)
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools
  • Agile experience
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools
  • Experience developing system(s) through the systems engineering process.


Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline, plus eight years of related experience, or an applicable Master's degree with six years of experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years leading engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Project Engineering role supporting a DoD program of record. Experience acting as technical representative at CCB.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs and requirement management database tool.
  • Experience with PLM tools, such as ARAS, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform and direct engineering problem solving, and analytical tasks is required.
  • Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance, if necessary.
