Principal Engineer - AWS

Why this role

Evolve is looking for an AWS Principal Engineer to play a central role in guiding technology decisions and direction as they relate to the AWS Platform, integration patterns and practices.  As we build out a world-class cloud architecture, we are looking for an individual contributor who has proven experience architecting, collaborating with other technical architects/leads, and advising technical team members on complex technical ecosystems.  In this role, you’ll contribute at the highest individual technical level, and will play an active role in helping us evaluate emerging technologies, while also enabling high performance of existing architectures - all with an eye to a scalable business future.  This role is key to helping us define and implement our next generation technologies.

What you’ll do

• Collaborate with architects and engineering managers to craft designs and solutions to meet the needs of our internal and external integrations and greater product organization
• Proactively identify opportunities for reuse or generalization of features and/or services to reduce duplication of work
• Provide domain leadership and mentorship to others by teaching, providing examples and pairing with other team members
• Help team members make informed decisions in alignment with technology strategy and recognized best practices
• Provides a technical point of escalation, guide conversations and remove blockers for team members experiencing technical challenges
• Collaborate and execute 6-12 month technology roadmap within assigned domain area
• Architect solutions for problems early in their lifecycle, or that are not fully defined
• Collaborate across engineering and product teams to iterate and improve upon Application Lifecycle and Software Development Lifecycle processes
• Set coding standards, write white papers, and provide documentation to all key stakeholders

What makes you a great fit 

• 8+ years as a software engineer, including Technical Lead experience
• 5+ years of demonstrable, professional Cloud Infrastructure experience in AWS
• Experience with OpenAPI Specification and API Sandbox, node api development, TypeScript, AWS serverless architecture
• Any AWS Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
• Experience in designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to manage AWS using Terraform
• Experience collaborating and mentoring on solution design practices
• Experience mentoring and growing other engineers
• Experience with high volume transactional APIs
• Experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka, Cassandra, etc.).
• Experience with event driven architecture (SQS, EventBridge, Lambda, etc.)
• Experience with containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

Location

Evolve has a flexible working environment so teammates can work remotely anywhere in the state of Colorado, in our beautiful downtown Denver office, remotely or a hybrid of both! As we grow, we are working towards opening remote opportunities across the entire U.S. We currently are able to hire across the U.S except in the following locations: California, District of Columbia, Hawaii, New Jersey, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania.

Compensation

For this role our salary range is $157,000 to $181,000, depending on relevant experience. This role will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on both company and individual performance.

Equity: 75% of salary equivalent RSUs

Variable comp: 15% of salary target
