We are looking for a Principal Engineer to lead our efforts with our Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Client that will help build and improve backend code that interfaces with external systems.

What you'll be doing

Working hand in hand with other engineers developing and running a high traffic application. Day to day work will involve writing code, mentoring others, architecting system design, and developing tests. 

As a Principal Engineer, you will be expected to give input on high-level architecture decisions and communicate those decisions to other developers on the team.

We are looking for someone with the following skill set:

  • Direct and coordinate engineering efforts across CMS portfolio
  • Mentor and grow engineering leadership across CMS programs
  • Suggesting alternative solutions and approaches for CMS Tech Leads
  • Surge support on programs as needed to help with efforts
  • Solution architecture for future CMS proposals and opportunities
  • Work with CMS customers to strategically brainstorm and craft technical solutions/ideas
  • Defining our opinionated perspective on best in class engineering tools, methodologies and architecture
  • Working through our teams to evaluate all our program/client’s maturity models against our perspective
  • Supporting our program managers with assets, case studies, learnings, etc. that help the program manager have a consultative conversation about how to evolve the customer’s organization in specific areas
  • Liaison between CMS programs to share similar technical guidance and/or lessons learned

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience working with Agile Engineering teams
  • Experience working in modern DevSecOps environments
  • Experience architecting distributed cloud solutions
  • Experience working with security rules, regulations, and compliance procedures
  • Great communication skills both above to c suite, and below to engineering teams
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Prefer someone with federal health experience
  • Strongly prefer experience working with health data, health systems.
  • Experience architecting, designing, and modernizing critical high risk systems
Salary
This is a salaried role. As part of your benefits package, Oddball provides a monthly continuing education stipend and a tech stipend.
Must be located within the United States.

Ability to obtain low-level federal clearance is required
