Principal Engineer Front End

This is a senior technical leadership role on the Submittable engineering team. As a principal engineer you will have the opportunity to drive and own architecture for systems and services. You will have a help influence our choice of stacks, languages, and frameworks. You will help to mentor and grow our junior engineers, and you will contribute to building a positive and inclusive engineering culture. 

With a focus on the front end, you will help the team with implementation, developer experience, voice of the customer, and making data driven decisions. A deep level of integration with our internal Product teams and Design teams is expected in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Play a central role in the technical design process of new systems, services, experiences, and platforms
• Ensuring the engineering efforts are high quality and moving in the right direction
• Work cross functionally to ensure that infrastructure and test efforts match planned
• Act as a consultant for feature teams and any technical issue in engineering
• Function as the most senior technical resource for the various Scrum teams
• Mentoring software engineers and engineering managers from a technical perspective
• Reviewing code/PRs ensuring that our software is increasing in quality and providing feedback to ICs about their code
• Work closely with internal engineering stakeholders and external product managers to couple the growth and capabilities of the platform to the needs of the company
• Drive the reduction of technical debt through a cycle of continuous improvement and iterative change

You’ll Be Successful With:

• 10+ years of professional software development experience
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operation
• Experience with front end technologies such as React, GraphQL, etc. 
• Experience in communicating with other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
• Experience influencing software engineers’ best practices within your team
• Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
• Must be able to work with technologies including: AWS, Azure, Git, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS CDK/SDK/API, Terraform, Python, .NET, Java, JavaScript, Bash, YAML, DAST, Datadog, Akamai

The salary range for this position is $175,000-$235,000 annually; base pay offered may vary depending on location, experience, skills, relevant education, and training.
