Principal Engineer, Post-Silicon Bring-up / Validation : High-speed SerDes

SambaNova is hiring a senior-level Post-Silicon Engineer who will be responsible for the post-silicon bring-up and validation of high-speed SerDes, specifically PAM4 PMA. In this role you will be working closely with the silicon, system, software, and operation teams. You will play a unique and critical role in the productization of the SambaNova DataScale® system, and you will be provided with cross-functional learning across the hardware and software stack with opportunities for growth in a fast-growing AI system company.

Responsibilities 

• Develop and execute post-silicon bring-up and validation plan (characterization, stress test, functional and performance validation) for High Speed SerDes PAM4 PHY in a SOC
• Develop test methods to evaluate performance and calculate operating margins of high-speed serial interfaces (SerDes) across PVT 
• Work closely with system design team to design DOEs to help future system designs and review signal and  power integrity analysis
• Evaluate new SerDes IPs and test for logical and electrical compatibility with existing and new SOCs
• Work with the software cross-functional team to write routines to bring up and validate the SerDes and help integrate SerDes drivers in the software stack 
• Drive interoperability tests across multiple chips and prepare characterization reports
• Partner with system engineer, product engineer, and software team on product test deployment, RMA debug, and product release 

Basic Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in EE, ECE or CS

• 5+ years of experience working on SerDes platforms

Additional Required Qualifications

• Experience working with various high speed SerDes architectures (NRZ, PAM4) and clocking modes
• Understanding of SerDes equalization (CTLE, DFE, FFE), CDR and PLLs
• Familiarity working in a lab environment with high-speed scopes ,VNA, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working experience with Ethernet, PCIe and other high-speed protocol layers
• Understanding of RF/microwave fundamentals, circuits, test and measurement techniques
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of System SI/PI simulation methodology and tools

Annual Salary Range and Level

The base salary for this position ranges from $165,000/year up to $210,000/year. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US. Individual pay within the range will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s job-related qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
