If these represent you, then the Economics and Data Science department in the Flash Business Unit of Western Digital is looking for a Principal Engineer, Software Development, AI/ML. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Exemplify as a technology thought leader for the Flash Business Unit and report to the VP, Head of Economics and Data Science.
• Mentor and lead a technical team to develop and deliver advanced Causal ML products that shape capital investments happening at planet scale.
• Be recognized as a legacy builder delivering strategic ML assets while spearheading a world class software engineering delivery process.
• Design and develop ML data pipelines to serve model insights in real-time and at scale.
• Utilize cutting edge ML techniques to develop algorithms and predictive systems used for economic planning and capital allocation; monitor & maintain such algorithms in production.
• Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to refine requirements and define delivery for highly complex Software ML projects.
• Write efficient, reliable, maintainable, and defect-free code. Design and implement software architecture, features for meeting and exceeding business objectives.
• Lead the end-to-end design and development of machine learning solutions working in an Agile software development process.
• Be a go-getter and be technically unbounded.

Required:

• Experience training and deploying ML models in production.
• Experience with supervised, unsupervised, deep learning algorithms
• Experience in Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience data intensive project lifecycle from use case framing, exploratory data analysis, model conception, development, and deployment.
• Experience in driving for successful adoption of AI/ML solutions with stakeholders.
• Exceptional ability to shape and share technical execution plans with stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of common ML and statistical techniques
• 7+ years’ experience in software architecture design, algorithms, and data structures - with deep expertise in one or more system languages such as Java, Python, Golang, C++, C#.
• 5+ years’ experience developing and deploying statistical solutions, ML models, and advanced analytics solutions.
• 5+ years’ experience in ETL, and Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, etc. with demonstrable proficiency in Relational Databases and SQL.
• Bachelor’s degree, in Computer Science, ML, or a related quantitative field.

 Preferred:

• Working knowledge in deep learning with different NN architectures like CNN, RNN, LSTM with proficiency with at least one deep learning framework such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, etc.
• 10+ years’ experience in software architecture design, algorithms, and data structures - with deep expertise in one or more system languages such as Java, Python, Golang, C++, C#.
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, ML, or a related quantitative field.

Skills

• Strong problem solving & decision-making.
• Strong knowledge in data analytics, big data technologies, ETL, data structure, and ML.
• Good knowledge in system language such as Java, Python, Golang, C++, C#, Rust, etc.
• Good technical communication skills to convey complex ideas and execution plans.
• Good software project management, decision making and adaptability/flexibility.
• Ability and desire to coach, mentor, and teach those around them.
