Overall Purpose

A Principal Enterprise Security Architect operates as a security architecture subject matter expert across all domains of technical information security architecture. This includes working directly in collaboration with the Technology Architecture team to securely define enterprise technology directions, design large scale complex systems, applications, and architectures across many diverse technology domains.

Essential Functions
  • Leads the Enterprise Security Architecture team in technical and risk-based decision making.
  • Leads researching new emerging technologies and designs security architectural standards to ensure compliance with Early Warning Security Policy.
  • Significantly influences the overall technology direction of Early Warning from the perspective of information security.
  • Presents security related content, architecture, and security control detail to Early Warning customers.
  • Works collaboratively with customer information security staff to intake and define security requirements for customer facing systems and applications.
  • Drives the development of repeatable architectures working with internal and external partners to ensure that systems are placed within the relevant security zones based on the data they house and their purpose.
  • Leads security efforts with architecture teams to ensure that all newly developed and legacy infrastructure implementations are in line with security policy and are compliance to the required frameworks (ISO, PCI, NIST 800-53, etc.)
  • Evaluates and drives decisions for product business cases including functional and detailed design specs to ensure security standards are met.
  • Drives architectural reference material to ensure that security practices are being implemented in a repeatable fashion every time a new project is implemented.
  • Mentors new security team members.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physical Science.
  • A minimum of 10 or more years of progressive/ relative experience in information security roles or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Subject matter expert in infrastructure security architecture.
  • Subject matter expert in application security architecture.
  • Subject matter expert in cloud security.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with ability to present to peers, coworkers, and customers.
  • Expert knowledge of operating system, application, network, and database architectures.
  • CEH/CPT, or CISSP or Network Certification and one of Advanced Network or Infrastructure Cert, or PHD or MBA in InfoSec or equivalent certification.
  • Expert experience in analyzing technical issues and making recommendations for corrective action.
  • Expert experience developing and delivering risk mitigation solutions.
  • Expert experience designing and implementing complex process and procedure.
  • Demonstrate expert understanding in the field of Information Security in terms of both concepts and technology.
  • Background and drug screen.


Preferred Qualifications
  • In depth knowledge with public cloud service architectures such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Security experience with highly regulated institutions
  • Experience with Threat Modeling or Architectural Risk Analysis


Physical Requirements

Employee must be able to perform essential functions and physical requirements of position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
