Principal Flight Dynamics Software Engineer

Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin, Durham, North Carolina, and Kennedy Space Center, Florida, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations. This position supports Dream Chaser Flight Dynamics Simulation development through the following:

• Development of the six degrees-of-freedom simulation used for Dream Chaser GN&C algorithm verification and flight dynamics analysis.
• Implementation of high-fidelity models of the Dream Chaser sensors, effectors, systems, and environment in an "in-house" developed simulation framework.
• Monte Carlo analysis of Dream Chaser performance against requirements.
• Application of systems engineering and program management processes to deliver quality engineering on-time.
• Development of unit and integrated testing

Must-haves:

• Bachelor's of Science degree Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
• Experience developing physics-based models of complex systems
• Experience with C/C++, Python, Linux, MATLAB
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams

Preferred:

• Experience working with aircraft and spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control systems.
• Desire to work with, learn from, and mentor others.
• Understanding of statistics and their application to performance analysis.
• Knowledge of the DARTS/Dshell simulation framework.
• Experience working with structures and loads analysis.
• Deep understanding of the dynamics and kinematics of mechanical systems.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $138,634.92 - $190,623.01. Sierra Space considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
