Principal FP&A Analyst (Financial Planning & Analysis)

This position will be based in Palo Alto and offers a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced high-performance environment at SambaNova Systems, a leader in AI computing. We are a small team encompassing FP&A and strategic finance provides for significant responsibilities; this position offers meaningful exposure to senior executives, including the VP Finance and CEO. You will have the opportunity to work with cross functional teams and will provide recommendations & information that will assist senior executives in making critical strategic decisions.

This position partners with stakeholders across the company including engineering, business development and marketing groups to deliver planning, analytics and operational finance support at all decision levels.

The FP&A Analyst for SambaNova Systems and will play an instrumental role in our route to IPO, as we scale and expand internationally and bring ‘AI to Everyone’. Responsibilities:

• Drive an efficient, effective and comprehensive process for developing annual and quarterly financial plans and analysis that link to the Company’s strategic objectives
• Create and maintain a detailed financial model that links corporate objectives with detailed cost drivers and can be used to provide scenarios to leadership
• Responsible for monthly reporting package that includes financial operating statements, analysis of operating results against budget, prior periods and forecasts, and comprehensive executive level explanations
• Develop, deliver, and maintain insightful reporting for all department VP’s providing explanations of actual to budget and prior year and costs of certain projects and products
• Develop, analyze, and interpret financial and operating results and information; improve forecast accuracy and visibility
• Serve as key business partner and contributor to growth strategies, tactics, mid and long-range planning
• Support the financial evaluation and implications of potential new products, operating models, contracts, marketing programs and technology solutions
• Perform ad-hoc projects and financial analysis and presentations for dept VP’s and BOD
• Provide data-driven insights to facilitate decision making and influence strategy with financial model building, reporting, process flow, and dashboard development
• Facilitate deal negotiations with vendors and partners, including financial analysis
• Provide broad financial support to operational leaders, including preparation of budgets and forecasts, internal management reporting and dashboards, and ad-hoc of financial analysis
• Work closely with business leaders to report, manage and control operating results, identifying areas of both growth potential, and cost efficiency
• Assist with accounting close process and working with rest of A&F Team
• Partner with cross functional teams across SambaNova Systems organizations and develop strong collaborative relationship with key stakeholders across the company
• Work closely with VP Finance on defining the annual business planning process. Identify and manage tools for budget execution, forecast and reporting
• Present, analyze, and interpret relevant financial data and business metrics partnering closely with business leaders to impact strategic business decisions including analysis on optimizing pricing, managing cost of revenues and other operating expenses
• Work cross-functionally with the accounting team on developing and reporting cash forecasts
• Assist in the upgrade of reporting standards through the pursuit of continuous process improvement and liaison with the various business departments

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's B.S. in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent, from a leading undergraduate institution; MBA and/or CPA preferred
• 4+ years of financial analysis experience from a high growth technology company or leading public accounting, investment bank, consulting, Fortune 500 firm.

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated prowess in financial and strategic planning, including core competencies in budgeting and reporting, financial modeling and analysis, capital budgeting and good familiarity with corporate accounting
• Strong attention to detail, and ability to multitask
• Strong analytical, verbal, written communication, and problem solving skills
• Excellent analytical, modeling and in-depth experience with financial statement analysis and a strong understanding of corporate finance concepts
• A good listener with outstanding influencing qualities and a natural, effective consultative style
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask; an independent / flexible problem solver who copes positively with changes in the work environment
• Demonstrated history and ability dealing with executive management
• Ability to respond and prioritize effectively while meeting deadlines

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, match, etc.)
• NetSuite and Adaptive Planning experience would be highly desired
• Must have experience working with G-suite and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Annual Salary Range and Level

The base salary for this position ranges from $155,000/year up to $185,000/year. This range is based on role, level, and location and reflects the salary target for new hires in the US. Individual pay within the range will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s job-related qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
