Our embedded hardware engineers craft and innovate on truly unique complex controls platforms. As our Principal Hardware Engineer you will be responsible for helping set the bar for our ever-improving software design cycle in a quest for world-class excellence. Specialized near term efforts include a greenfield approach to IoT manufacturing. Additionally, you'll work alongside other talented software engineers to coordinate and develop multiple software platforms employed in various appliances across all three of our brands. This includes requirements development and management, team coding, process growth, and continuing to build on our automated test platforms. You'll work with internal customers from a wide variety of disciplines alongside your teammates to support other teams and engineers. You will build for the future by:

  • Set the pace in the designing, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting embedded electronics.
  • Employ modern practices in hardware development and Agile/Scrum team development
  • Develop and refine engineering requirements based on marketing and user needs.
  • Peer-review designs and test systems.
  • Make recommendations to improve team and product scalability, efficiency, and stability.
  • Have your voice heard on technology opportunities, architecture definitions, and reusability strategies.
  • Identify and escalate business risks and opportunities to leadership
  • Work on advanced technologies including AI, ML, and IoT
  • Contribute to unit, system, and automated platform test strategies
  • Influence business strategy and development approaches

What we are looking for from you:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience with embedded controls design
  • 5+ years of SMT manufacturing experience
  • 3+ years of leadership, teaching or mentoring experience
  • Experience developing complex embedded platform designs.
  • SMT manufacturing and test systems development experience
  • Expert level hardware component and schematic design, and a firm grasp of the interactions between firmware and electronic components
  • Establish and grow processes and technical methods of hardware development
  • Develop detailed architectural and design documentation
  • Endpoint and regression testing and test development
  • Evaluate 3rd party work and processes for compliance with internal standards
  • Support lab and engineering personnel in organization
  • Provide test standards for internal labs and end-of-line equipment
  • Assist Test Engineering personnel in production environment
  • Carefully balance between timeline and requirements delivery
  • Ability to innovate for the long term
