Job Description

Principal IT Business Architects provide consultation to business area clients regarding the planning, execution and benefit realization of business technology solutions. Works closely with assigned business area executives and key stakeholders to understand the strategic goals and business objectives. They analyze and understand the business direction and impacting programs and ensure alignment to the client's business mission and objectives. They are accountable for leading the successful transition of the client's business from the current through the future state through effective planning and are accountable for the realization of expected benefits. At the strategic level, supplement enterprise strategy with an end-state vision associating target capabilities, supporting principals and policies; develop and maintain a current state environmental assessment to provide contextual rationale of 'where we are' versus 'where are we headed'; consulting mindset that allows support to strategy development across the enterprise; responsible for developing various views of capability plans for the enterprise, including 3-year enterprise business capability roadmap; enable architects' influence to organization through mentoring and guiding along the process; exhibits team-oriented approach, being exceptionally collaborative with all constituents - particular emphasis on senior leadership. Acts as a multi-functional expert and enterprise solution architect for business processes design, integration, and solution strategies across multiple domains.

What are the Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs capability planning activities across the enterprise to manage an investment portfolio against a 3-year roadmap ensuring alignment of solutions with strategic, compliance, and regulatory needs
  • Provide management with accurate cost/benefit/scope status and controllership of all programs/projects declared in the investment portfolio to validate timely delivery of program scopes within budget
  • Communicates and interfaces with key supporting stakeholders that support execution of capability planning, such as IT, Project Management, Corporate Finance, IT Finance, Enterprise Risk, Training, Legal, Procurement, and HR.
  • Maintains process and offers guidance to orchestrate an enterprise execution of business architecture with fellow business architects
  • Develops conceptual, logical and physical business and technology process and architecture, working closely with other Business/Technical architects and vendors as needed
  • Establishes and maintains enterprise operational, architectural and design documentation templates, including procedures, vision and architecture blueprints as key business architecture artifacts convey a strategic vision of current and future capability needs
  • Collaborates with senior leaders of Guidewell, enterprise strategy, and segment team to ensure cohesive alignment of enterprise goals and objectives
What is Required:

  • 6+ years' experience as a capacity of an Architect or equally relevant role working on multi-year, large scale, progressively complex IT projects
  • Demonstrated experience in working on the enterprise/strategic view of the business architecture
  • Collect and attract expert-level knowledge and experience applying current and emerging technology solutions and trends
  • Strong concept visualization, presentation communication skills with broader leadership audience, including enterprise executives
  • Apply and implement overall IT strategy in assigned projects/initiatives
  • Be viewed in organization as an expert innovator with ability to think beyond established standards and processes
  • Possess expert consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building, and presentation and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated success in communicating technical data and recommendations to non-technical audiences, of all levels
  • Exceptional leadership skills demonstrated through project or technical leadership experience including effective knowledge sharing, conflict resolution, facilitation of open discussions and displaying appropriate levels of assertiveness.
  • Related Bachelor's degree or additional related equivalent work experience Business Administration

What is Preferred:

  • Deep knowledge of applications, business processes and data architecture for IT Claims
  • Master's degree Business Administration
  • Business Architecture related certifications
  • Experience using Agile methodology
  • A solid understanding of the healthcare industry and the laws and regulations that govern and/or impact our business

General Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Jobs are sedentary if traversing activities are required only occasionally.
