Principal IT Systems Engineer

Your role in helping us shape the future:
As Principal IT Systems Engineer, you will occupy a critical role within Intelsat's Information Technology department as the subject matter expert and lead engineer responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of all Windows, VMware and Citrix technology platforms. You will participate in major projects that keep Intelsat's system architecture innovative, secure, and robust through version upgrades, additions to functionality, and thoughtful utilization of cloud-based platforms.
Are you up to the challenge?

• Act as the lead technical point of contact for all Windows based servers and services; support critical IT infrastructure components; maintain and improve Intelsat's infrastructure; implementing new services and applications as needed to support business and technical needs
• Assist in the mitigation of risks to infrastructure by identifying security gaps and deploying remedies to improve the organization's security posture
• Support fellow engineers in efforts to achieve and maintain technical compliance
• Use a combination of your IT knowledge and experience to help support, maintain, and facilitate upgrades to company NetApp hardware and VMWare servers and software
• Use your impressive set of technical skills to assist in maintaining the Intelsat's Active Directory domain policies and features
• Assist in maintenance and upgrades of Intelsat's Exchange infrastructure, including mail flow and server role configurations
• Apply your creative prowess to resolve complex challenges by introduction of new and innovative technologies to improve the IT infrastructure
• Work with colleagues to ensure business continuity strategies continue to employ adequate cybersecurity measures to mitigate risk
• Practice your leadership skills by taking on the role of project lead for various IT projects and initiatives

You should definitely have:

• Four-year college degree in a technical field of study or equivalent work experience
• At least 5 years of IT experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of VMWare and/or Hyper-V
• Intensive knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows Server, and Citrix XenApp
• Demonstrated capabilities of managing the support and lifecycle of several applications simultaneously
• Ability to analyze system logs and proactively identify potential issues with computer systems
• Problem determination, isolation, and resolution skills
• The ability and drive to perform self-directed research of technical challenges through online and vendor resources
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to provide technical direction and prioritize tasks
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Strong and consistent documentation skills
• This role is subject to ITAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee

It would be nice if you had:

• Experience with NetApp storage systems
• Experience with Cisco UCS
• Good working knowledge of Linux (RedHat Enterprise 7.9 and greater)
