What you will do-
As the Principal Engineer for the Foundry Business, you will be technical expert for a major business process in Stryker Mahwah. This role will be responsible for building the long-term strategic vision for the Foundry, developing plans that automate, standardize, digitize, and optimize all process steps, while also mentoring and supporting Frontline Team Members, Engineers, and Operations Support to deliver product supply, quality, safety, and cost commitments for the area. Additionally, this exciting new role will partner with sister sites in Stryker to identify and implement best practices within all operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Enhance production specifications/procedures for material selection, surface finish, and heat treatment for all foundry process steps. Propose and update applicable documentation through GQ&O quality system.
- Develop and manage project timelines within a cross-functional team (including changes with short notice); work closely with Team Members to ensure projects are effectively prioritized and are driving to expected delivery date.
- Determines best practice for organizational capacity for future demand.
- Lead the build and testing of production and manufacturing equivalent components and assemblies for foundry operations.
- Develop and sign off on technical engineering change notifications as well as V&V testing protocols & reports.
- Lead the PFMEA/DCP creation on new products/processes & provide updates upon design/process changes.
- Work directly with suppliers to determine material selection for parts & custom part configurations. Lead nonconforming RC&CA discussions with supplier.
- Mentor current and new hires and enforce standard working practices for DFM, DFS, Lean Manufacturing best practices and supplier development activities.
- Participate and lead, when required, process design and update reviews for both cross-functional and supplier development teams.
- Work with operations & suppliers to diagnose and find solutions for CAPAs, QT's and continuous improvements in support of currently released products.

- Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operations sequence, and processes in the foundry cell.
- Lead overall Foundry value stream and manufacturing cycle time reduction plan.
- Use appropriate tools/resources to conduct full inspection of foundry manufactured parts.
- Estimate foundry manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements.
- Participate in project meetings early in design phase; interface with design engineering and Advanced Operations in coordinating the release of new products.
- Support the work of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians. Act as a Mentor and provide technical job training to Team Leaders, Engineers, Associate Engineers, and Operators.
- Work closely with Quality Operations and cross functional business partners to develop guidelines/plans.
- Manages Gage Calibration and Preventative maintenance programs for foundry equipment.
What you need-
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
- 8 years of relevant Foundry Engineering experience required
- Expert experience in foundry operations processes for wax, shelling, casting, post-casting, and inspection, for legacy and new product introduction(s) are required
- DMAIC expert including Failure Modes and effects analysis (FMEA)/Dynamic Control Plan (DCP) required
- Demonstrated detailed knowledge of foundry simulation, best practice controls for foundry processes, FMEA/DCP, NC/CAPA & equipment/process validation required
- Green belt Six Sigma Certification or quantifiable experiences in lean methodologies- preferred
- Member of the Investment Casting Institute- preferred
- Must be well versed in Investment Casting Institute guidance and best practices- preferred
- Kaizen Expert; Value Stream Mapping and process flow tools. Mistake proofing (Poka-yoke), work cell optimization, visual process controls. Metrics for foundry process efficiency -preferred
- Implementing 6s, Value-add vs non-value add analysis - preferred
