Job Title: Principal Modeling and Simulation Analyst

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Summary of Position: Alcon is looking to hire a Principal Modeling and Simulation Analyst to join our R&D Instrumentation Team in Fort Worth, TX. You will be responsible for planning and execution of simulation projects in the area of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to support Surgical R&D project teams in the development of medical devices in order to reduce time and expense of device development and provide faster market access to safe and effective medical device technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of simulations in the area of structural static and dynamic simulations. Requires strong analytical skills and thorough understanding of linear, nonlinear statics, quasi-static, implicit dynamic and explicit dynamic simulations including linear and nonlinear materials.
• Provide simulation driven support to aid designs of intraocular and extraocular devices such as intraocular lens, contact lens and their interaction with human eye to provide simulation driven insights and accelerate design development process.
• Provide direction in determining and developing approach to solutions by coordinating multiple resources to solve complex problems. Work with mechanical and optical engineers early on into the project to minimize design issues.
• Expert user of Ansys mechanical, LsDyna and optistruct simulation software with demonstrated ability to efficiently model and simulate complex assemblies and perform convergence studies.
• Define simulation project requirements and objectives, generate statements of work, define timelines and ensure on-time completion of projects. Ability to verify and validate simulation with experimental results.
• Address unmet technical needs by developing and verifying new methods and techniques, leveraging knowledge of product portfolio. Leverage subject matter experts to build new capabilities and effectively incorporate into simulation plans for the benefit of projects.
• Develop models of complex systems involving multi-physics to serve as virtual prototypes in support of all phases of product development, from early stage research, exploratory concept development and confirmatory through production release.
• Mentor other analysts and engineers in use of the technology within the context of projects.
• Accountable for producing professional analysis summary reports. Trusted to work on multiple simulation projects simultaneously. Makes decisions impacting scope of work where appropriate.
• Requires awareness of the workings of the business beyond own team and some familiarity with the external environment as it affects own part of the organization.

Key Requirements/Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience(or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9yrs; M.S.+2yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• 5 Years of Relevant Experience
• Work hours: 40 hours
• Travel Requirements: 15% Domestic

Preferred Qualifications/skills Experience:

• Mechanical, Aerospace or Biomedical Engineering with relevant course work in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
• Expert user of Ansys mechanical / workbench, Ls-Dyna, or similar Simulation tools, Design Modeler, SpaceClaim,
• Experience with Creo, SolidWorks and other CAD applications
