As a Principal Optical Engineer supporting Research and Development, you will be trusted to work on innovative designs forinterocular lensesand applying research to achieve desired outcomes atour Fort Worth, TX. In this role, a typical day will include:

• Carrying out extensive research in optical design and optical metrology, primarily in accommodative and refractive correction research areas.
• Designing proprietary optics optimized for human vision and providing reliable optical metrology for performance inspection.
• Collaborating with teams consisting of members from Optics, Ophthalmology, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, seeking to restore vision and accommodation in cataract and presbyopic patients.
• Operating within clear guidelines with regard to how to handle decisions outside direct experience.
• Planning, conducting and implementing IOL(Intraocular Lens)-related research.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
• 4 Years of Validated Experience
• Experience working with Zemax, FDTD, FRED and Matlab
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with fellow team members and cross functional associates.
