The Principal Payroll Analyst is the right hand to the Payroll Manager and provides team oversight and process support within North America Payroll Operations. The Analyst applies their expert-level working knowledge of pay and time best practices to day-to-day activities, executing on complex processes and troubleshooting escalated matters. As a lead for the team, this person will offer regular guidance and support to Payroll team members, driving and coordinating processing activities and overseeing execution of critical payroll functions.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Coordinate and monitor end to end activities for on and off cycle processing for multi-company, multi-state payrolls, guiding the payroll members through processes
- Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional partners to execute and reconcile complex pay data inputs such as expatriate data, stock equity, payroll accounting, abandoned property, imputed income calculations, gross-ups, and special bonus programs
- Monitor for and resolve complex payroll issues as reported by stakeholders and escalated by Payroll team members, ensuring support resources, coaching and process documentation are up to date and working efficiently
- Manage stock equity input and reconciliation of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)and Non-Qual options, ensuring timely capture and reporting of taxes. Perform routine review and validation to ensure accurate taxes are calculated and withheld, and reporting in a timely manner
- Prepare reporting and develop regular auditing procedures to ensure compliance with various tax, wage, and benefit reporting regulations, overseeing Retirement Plan, Worker's Comp, and other reporting each period
- Explores regulatory and legislative updates that affect Payroll processes and partner with Payroll Manager, vendors, and other stakeholders to execute updates and support resources. Partner heavily with Pay Operations Analyst and Compliance teams to collaboratively monitor and resolve ongoing updates
- Assist Payroll Manager with vendor oversight and management, monitoring compliance and Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) for outsourced services such as wage garnishment, unemployment claims, tax filing. Monitor for and elevates support trends and issues to Manager for guidance
- Identify process and practice gaps, working with Business Analysts, Technical Support, and other team members to share insights and requirements for improvements or enhancements
YOU ARE
- Able to manage multiple, often complex, tasks at the same time, while maintaining key timeline/deliverables
- Known for your ability to provide direction and guidance to newer or more junior team members
- Proactive, able to consistently anticipate stakeholders needs, and self-motivated, accountable, and goal oriented
- Someone with solid communication skills who can balance the need to seek information with the need to be understood in varied settings and cultures
YOU HAVE
- 8+ years' experience in a similar role in a large, matrixed publicly traded organization
- 2+ years' experience mentoring, coaching, or developing more junior team members
- Expert knowledge of high-volume end-to-end payroll processing
- Knowledge of wage and hour regulations, tax laws affecting payroll, and regulations on processing withholding and support orders
- Advanced skills with ADP Payroll products, preferably ADP Workforce Now or similar tools and knowledge of time keeping systems
- CPP or FPC certification a plus
- Must have excellent writing and communication skills. Above average ability to read, write, and speak English. Multilingual a plus
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook skills
