The KC-46 Pegasus is the next generation replacement of the KC-135 Stratotanker and will become the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force (USAF) into the future. This unique asset takes the next steps in flexibility of air refueling by giving the USAF the capabilities of refueling multiple aircraft simultaneously with all situational awareness occurring at the Air Refueling Operator (ARO) station. The ARO stations includes panoramic displays giving the ARO and Boom operators wing-tip to wing-tip vision. The Remote Vision System (RVS) as part of the ARO station will provide the Boom operator with a unique out-the-window 3D experience while sitting within the aircraft.
This position is for a Principal Systems Engineer on the KC-46 Platform Systems Team within Fixed Wing Systems, Military Avionics & Helicopters, and Avionics Engineering at Collins Aerospace.

Typical responsibilities and desirable characteristics include:
- System development in all systems technical elements of an entire development project.
- Ensuring that all systems activities are completed per the Integrated Performance Management Process (IPM) and the Collins Aerospace Technical Consistent Process (TCP).
- Working with the software and hardware teams, technical program manager and systems lead to develop test plans and schedules.
- Performing as the bid leader for small proposals.
- Knowledge in the areas of earned value and risk management.
- Ability to mentor other systems engineers.
- Ability to work with the end user customer in a professional manner.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and ability to effectively use DOORS/JAMA/JIRA and ALM tool suite.
- Experience and ability to effectively use Microsoft Project, Powerpoint and Excel.
- Work in a very strong team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrate self-starter personality traits.
- Willingness to travel (domestic).
- A strong communicator with others, both written and verbal.
- This position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30am to 4:30pm workday, or beyond a 40 hour workweek.
