Job Description

Team: Design

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Product Designer, Payer in the United States.

This role is a senior design leadership opportunity focused on shaping how complex healthcare, regulatory, and payer-facing systems translate into clear, usable, and human-centered experiences. You will define and drive the design vision for products that ensure clinical integrity, coding accuracy, and trust across a large-scale healthcare platform. Acting as a key partner to product and engineering leadership, you will help shape strategy, roadmap direction, and execution for highly complex, multi-stakeholder workflows. You will design across multiple audiences, including providers, payers, and internal teams, balancing regulatory constraints with exceptional user experience. The environment is highly collaborative, fast-moving, and deeply mission-driven, with a strong emphasis on ownership, experimentation, and systems thinking. This role is ideal for a design leader who thrives in ambiguity and enjoys solving high-impact, high-complexity problems at scale.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead design vision and execution for payer-focused experiences, ensuring alignment with product strategy and long-term platform goals
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to define roadmap priorities and translate complex regulatory and clinical requirements into usable workflows
  • Design intuitive, human-centered experiences for multiple audiences, including providers receiving feedback and payer stakeholders evaluating compliance and performance
  • Use AI tools and prototyping platforms to explore problem spaces, test assumptions, and rapidly iterate on interaction flows and information architecture
  • Conduct user research and collaborate with research partners to validate solutions and refine product direction
  • Develop and refine scalable design systems, contributing reusable patterns and elevating overall design quality across teams
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to ensure seamless transition from design prototypes to production-ready implementations
  • Drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces by defining structure, workflows, and user needs from early discovery through launch
  • Share design practices, AI workflows, and best practices with broader design and product teams to elevate organizational capability
  • Requirements:

    • 8+ years of experience in product design, with strong experience in complex systems, enterprise tools, or regulated environments
    • Proven ability to design for multi-stakeholder platforms with competing constraints including user needs, business goals, and regulatory requirements
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality visual and interaction design craft applied to complex workflows
    • Experience working in ambiguous environments and shaping both problem definition and solution execution
    • Strong collaboration skills with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders in fast-paced settings
    • Fluency with AI-enabled design workflows and tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar prototyping and coding assistants
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution across discovery, prototyping, and delivery phases
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex systems into clear narratives and design decisions
    • Experience in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated industries is highly valued
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary range: $249,600 – $312,000 USD annually
      • Equity compensation opportunities as part of the total rewards package
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage
      • HSA / FSA options and retirement savings (401k)
      • Flexible PTO and 13 paid holidays, including a year-end company break
      • Remote-friendly work environment with work-from-home stipend
      • Mental health and therapy reimbursement support
      • Paid parental leave and fertility support benefits
      • Learning, training, and professional development opportunities
      • Employee assistance and wellbeing programs
      • Inclusive, mission-driven culture focused on equity, diversity, and impact
