A Principal Product Manager will lead in helping us continue to develop institutional knowledge of our business, users, and customer journey. You will engage with all product stakeholders, internal and external, to understand use cases, challenges, and feature needs. You will make recommendations on product strategy, areas to expand our total addressable market, understand current ICP and persona customers and their use cases, and identify new potential ICPs for expansion.
You and the Product team will be responsible for weighing different design and build options and creating a plan for product development and roadmap execution. You'll own features and experiments end-to-end, including writing product specs and acceptance criteria, driving cross-functional execution, making thoughtful product decisions, and sharing insights and results throughout the company. You will accelerate the pace of shipping and learning while keeping our product quality bar high. You will be expected to need little support to overcome roadblocks to execute the following.
As the Principal Product Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Define and execute product strategy, ensuring alignment with Blackbird's vision, strategy, and market demands.
- Build and evolve our product roadmap in collaboration with the rest of the Product team and leadership to continuously innovate and improve Blackbird product(s).
- Be a lead voice in the strategic vision of our product line, including 3-year out and 5-year out visions and objectives.
- Work closely with the Intelligence team, AI/ML team, and other internal stakeholders to define product requirements, assess roadmap prioritization, and identify opportunities to enhance Constellation product impact, effectiveness, and value.
- Be a primary liaison with customers to understand and validate their use cases and needs.
- Translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable work units through decomposition and planning, and research motivations behind requests to ensure that they are the best path forward in meeting the need/basis for the requesting party.
- Ensure requests from customers and internal users align with product and company strategy, evaluate ROI on all requested work, and provide recommendations for moving forward.
- Prioritize work for the engineering team to build features, streamline analytic tools within Constellation, and improve our product(s).
- Build strong bridges with your engineering counterparts to empower successful partnerships across our teams.
- Mentor growth of other team members in Product Management, customer engagement, and all other aspects of the product life cycle.
- Ensure product build requirements and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and communicated to UX and engineering teams, and supervise other product managers in this.
- Manage the release process, anticipate bottlenecks, and provide escalation management when necessary.
- Drive product launches and feature rollouts while aligning with company strategy and goals.
- Be P&L minded, completing cost analysis as part of consideration for additional features and products, and ideating ways to drive down COGS.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the development of innovative product solutions.
- Design and implement techniques to ensure platform security and scalability.
- Provide sales enablement and marketing enablement education to ensure our commercial teams understand product strengths and capabilities; keep teams apprised of new feature launches, and collaborate with them closely in the product GTM.
- Adopt industry norms to ensure our solutions adhere to current world-class standards and technology.
- Research industry/market trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities to enhance offering and retain competitive edge over competitors in the Narrative Intelligence and MDM analysis spaces.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Product Management.
- Demonstrated success and proven track record as an effective Product Manager who can manage a hectic operational rhythm and track several disparate work streams and projects.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of software development processes.
- A track record of critical thinking and complex problem solving.
- You have the EQ to evangelize a product vision and bring others in on your journey
- Understanding of AI and machine learning technologies.
- Experience and prior success building SaaS products as lead Product Manager.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you will be expected to overcome speed bumps with little support to meet your objectives.
- You understand the value of good design and can effectively communicate design needs to the UX team.
- You keep track of the smaller details while remaining focused on the bigger picture.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills
- A hunger to acquire new skills, dive into unknown terrain, and a self-starter mentality.
- B2B Startup Experience is required- you need to be comfortable in navigating the fast-paced terrain of a Series B startup with a proven track record of success in Product Management in this space.
- Proven track record of mentoring other rising product professionals.
- Agile Development Experience.
- History working with third-party partners and building API-based integrations.
- Proven track record of making data-driven product decisions and recommendations.
Nice to have:
- Professional experience in AI.
- BS/BA degree in a technology related field OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in the field of Intelligence Analysis and/or Product management experience creating analyst tools.
- Prior experience at the Principal/Director PM level.
- Prior experience working directly with UX designers.
- Prior experience building APIs that support different use cases.
