National Grid is hiring a Principal Project Developer for our NY Gas Project Development department located in Melville, NY.

The Team

Our team is responsible for the management of the front-end development of the most critical NY Gas Complex Capital Projects. We ensure they are developed in a least cost, fit for purpose manner in order to improve long term project readiness, requirements, costs and timescales.

Your Role

You'll ensure the most critical NY Gas complex projects adhere to the Complex Network Development Process for the timely creation and approval of the Project Execution Plan which includes preliminary engineering, baseline schedule, detailed cost estimate, risk profile, permitting requirements and resource strategy. You'll assemble cross functional project teams to establish the design requirements, milestones while driving adherence to policies and procedures, to drive an efficient and effective approach to project development. You'll facilitate and encourage the introduction of new technologies and innovative solutions to improve the delivery of projects safely, on time, and in accordance with regulations. You'll also review project reports and performance metrics to monitor progress according to plan, guide the resolution of any major issues and provide timelines. As a Principal Project Manager, you'll serve as a mentor or go-to for other Project Developers for solutions or project problem solving.

About You

You'll have a bachelor's degree in an engineering or project management related discipline and at least 10 years of experience in natural gas operations, engineering, project management, or utility construction. Preferably, you'll have a master's degree in an Engineering discipline, an MBA, your PE license or be a certified PMP. A valid driver's license is required.

Salary

$145,000 - $171,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
