Job Description

The Principal Project Manager has overall responsibility for the delivery of the results that enable some of GHX’s most important customers (IDN’s or multi-division suppliers) to achieve their supply chain goals. The Principal Project Manager is GHX’s on the ground resource that coordinates all aspects of the execution of these large-scale projects and promotes and nurtures the customer relationship. They must ensure that the customer’s goals are well defined, that their expectations are aligned with the capabilities of the team and the chosen solutions, that all the participating workgroups are coordinated, and that the stated objectives of the project are achieved. The Principal Project Manager is an expert project manager, highly skilled relationship manager, and capable of extreme clarity and purpose when communicating to C-level stakeholders.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Manage multi-disciplinary teams on healthcare supply chain optimization engagements involving process re-design, consulting services and software solutions.
- Identify was to improve and streamline solution delivery at GHX.
- Act as the focal point for day-to-day communication with the client and leading the delivery team, fostering a spirit of collaboration throughout.
- Project set up: establishing an appropriate work breakdown structure and organizational and governance models for delivery of the project.
- Project planning: creating a delivery plan, monitoring this through establishing and maintaining a project schedule.
- Risk management: developing risk registers and escalating issues appropriately.
- Financial management: making a profit, change control, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Understand and implement specific contractual requirements of the engagement and ensure compliance from the full project team.
- Establish and coordinate appropriate quality and information management processes.
- Manage project communications, including liaison with key stakeholders and third-party consultants.
- Undertake project and contractual reviews on major healthcare supply chain projects.
- Work with cross functional teams to ensure effective delivery of projects and that the goals of the customer are achieved.
- Ensure quality delivery to industry and client standards and GHX best practice guidelines and quality assurance procedures.
- Conduct effective business development activities (cross selling) and delivery professional presentations.
- Mentor less experience colleagues in the skills of project management.
- Lead and encourage professional excellence activities and support development of best practice guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
- PMP certification in good standing and/or advanced degree (MBA or master’s in project management).
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years of experience in enterprise level project leadership roles.
- Knowledge of supply chain principles and/or operations in either healthcare or adjacent industry.
- 6 or more years of experience with software development, implementation or integration projects either in a leadership role or as a major team contributor. Must be very conversant in information technology terminology and cloud implementation strategies and architectures.
- Advanced knowledge of project management methods and processes, including use of project management scheduling and collaboration tools, and demonstrated success in delivering complex project scope on time and within budget.
- Highly developed leadership skills enabling a skillful approach to managing people, teams and client relationships. Must have the ability to develop a rapport with even the most difficult of customers.
- Excellent facilitation skills and demonstrated excellence in an ability to deliver high quality while balancing multiple critical priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal skills with demonstrated experience in delivering presentations to C-level leaders.
- Analytical and qualitative reasoning skills are a key element of being successful in this role.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment in complex situations and function independently with initiative, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and diagnose project performance problems and execute effective corrective actions.
- Up to 75% travel required and, in some cases, may be primarily based at the customer’s location.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing projects that are multi-threaded, including teams in excess of 15 team members, and representing greater than $1,000,000 in revenue or budget.
- Operational experience in a healthcare supply chain setting (provider, supplier, distributor, or group purchasing organization).
- Experience working with the federal government and knowledge of FARS.
Estimated salary range: $122,900 - $163,800
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX’s salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of GHX’s total compensation package for employees.
