Principal Satellite Controller

Your impact
You will be a member of a team that performs satellite operations in a control center providing 24/7 satellite operations for a fleet of spacecraft following Intelsat and Space Systems Engineering Operations (SSEO) policies and procedures. You will perform activities scheduled in the daily activity plan, monitor telemetry, and execute spacecraft commands and procedures for the Intelsat satellite fleet. You will also monitor the performance of the TTC system infrastructure and configure it to respond to scheduled activities, detected failures and non-nominal configurations. You will provide a technical interface for SSEO team and other departments, operating and managing the daily functions of the TTC network and operating and maintaining Satellite Control equipment.
What you will do
- Monitor Intelsat and third-party satellites, as well as ground assets, to ensure proper operation and promptly respond to satellite and network alarms.
- Operate satellite and ground systems according to established procedures, execute scheduled and non-scheduled commands on satellites, and direct TTC&M Network activities.
- Serve as a technical interface between engineering team and satellite control team, ensure awareness of nominal and non-nominal configurations.
- Provide training to satellite control team on both nominal and non-nominal configurations and operations.
- Assist with troubleshooting Real-Time Ground Systems and provide 24/7 Level 2 support for Satellite Operations.
- Perform TOSS operations, staff the console, and interface with customers.
- Ensure timely execution of daily activities while maintaining situational awareness across Control Centers.
- Utilize expertise in Satellite Operations and TTC infrastructure to ensure team success.
- Be available for 12-hour rotating shifts including weekends and holiday and, on-call support.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of training for junior controllers.
- Participate in daily shift briefings and facilitate Daily Operations Briefings.
- Stay current with personal training and development through scheduled training sessions.
- Assist with drift coordination and interference mitigation tasks.
- Manage Maintenance Calendar, range activities, scheduling, and troubleshoot range anomalies.
- Maintain a record of SatOps and TTC&M Network activities in the daily log.
- Provide feedback for documentation updates, policies, methodologies, and processes related to Satellite Operations.
- Perform Team Lead duties as assigned.
Your required experience/skills
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- At least 5-years of recent, relevant experience, in real-time ground operations with critical decision-making.
- Solid understanding of spacecraft subsystems and the supporting ground network infrastructure (TTC&M).
- Functional experience related to ground stations and equipment.
- Troubleshooting and issue resolution experience.
- Familiarity with ground control system procedures and syntax.
- Ability to review/update existing procedures and train technical team.
- Flexibility for limited travel to meet business needs.
- Availability for 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty.
- Proficiency in both GNS (Ground Network System) and EPOCH ground systems, Kratos MCS and COMPASS M&C systems.
- This role is subject to ITAR/EAR; candidates must be a US Person (this includes US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Individual such as an asylee or refugee).

- Sound knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and spacecraft-supporting ground network TTC&M infrastructure.
