Job Description

Matchpoint is a biotechnology company harnessing the power of covalency to discover precision covalent medicines to transform the treatment of immune diseases and other serious illnesses. The company's proprietary Advanced Covalent Exploration (ACE) platform integrates advanced chemoproteomics, machine learning and covalent chemistry library evolution. Matchpoint has an emerging pipeline of novel covalent medicines initially focused on immunology.

Founded in 2021 by Atlas Venture and Access Biotechnology together with leading scientists from the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Stanford, we are rapidly growing our team and looking for passionate, driven, and creative thinkers to join us in ushering in a new era of covalent medicines.

Position Summary

Matchpoint seeks a highly motivated scientist with a strong background in proteomics and protein biochemistry to be an integral member of our Chemoproteomics team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer(s), execution of chemoproteomics experiments for novel target discovery, and selectivity profiling within our proprietary platform. The desired candidate will collaborate with internal and external scientists in addressing key scientific questions and be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team.ย  We are seeking a qualified candidate who will share our excitement about the science and contribute to our culture.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Implement Tandem Mass Tag (TMT)-based quantitative proteomics to elucidate precise interaction between small molecules and proteins.
  • Develop data dependent acquisition (DDA) MS methods and targeted proteomics-based methods.
  • Conduct protein target identification, validation, and mechanistic evaluation using proprietary and commercially available bioinformatics software (using the SEQUEST algorithm and other bioinformatics packages such as MaxQuant, Trans-Proteomic Pipeline, and Skyline).
  • Design and execute experiments profiling Post Translational Modifications in intact cells, tissue or cell-culture lysates.
  • Maintain and oversee complex laboratory equipment including Thermo Fisher Orbitrap mass spectrometers (Eclipse) and nano-flow high performance liquid chromatography (nHPLC) systems
  • Maintain high-quality electronic laboratory notebook and reporting of data.
  • Write and standardize protocols used for all chemoproteomics workflows and mass spectrometry methods.

Qualifications/ Education Requirements / Competencies

  • Masterโ€™s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry or a related field.
  • 6 yearsโ€™ experience in nano-scale proteomics methodology employing Thermo Fisher Orbitrap mass spectrometers with additional skill sets required.
